Congress, why are y'all messing with funding the Govt AGAIN??? Since I elected you, allow me to help y'all out.... Congress here's how you folks can always know when the Govt Funding deadline is coming > Think of Oct 1 as your BDay - none of you ever miss your BDay, right? I mean you know it's coming, when it will arrive, what to do when it comes, and the outcomes you'd like to realize ON your BDay [not afterward, no continuing resolutions for you] - some of y'all might even be making BDay wishes, still!! One more thing - PLEASE STOP ATTACHING PORK-BARRELL LEGISLATION to Govt Funding bills - think of your BDay cake with a ton of candles that weigh your BDay cake down so much that is falls apart right there on the table [messy, unappealing and totally unnecessary]. You can do this...

Massive campaign from alcohol industry to reduce alcohol taxes. Alcohol excise duties are a public health concern, yet unlike tobacco duties, levels for alcohol have not changed in a decade so their values are being eroded by infoation. A 15% increase would restore their value to 2014 levels and would bring about an improvement in public health outcomes through a reduction in alcohol consumption and its attendant harms like emergency department presentations. The additional income would also provide funding for the health service, eg 2482 nurses. So is the Minister for Health pressing for an increase as recommended by World Health Organization? Questions to be asked. Business Post https://lnkd.in/eXWnjDKB

https://lnkd.in/dW9Wh5a6 Act quickly, save masses from hardship, APC chieftain appeals to Tinubu Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has appealed to President Bola Tinubu, to act very quickly and save the masses from further hardship. Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker said that the suffering Nigerians were passing through at the moment has made it mandatory for the President to act faster and employ strategies that would bring instant reprieve. The APC Chieftain, while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, although expressed confidence in President Tinubu's ability to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, he however suggested that strategies that would bring instant relief should be adopted. Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), also noted the economic hardship the masses were currently going through due to the increase in pump prices which has led to the rise in prices of food stuffs, as well as, rise in electricity tariff, cost of cooking gas, among others thus making life unbearable for Nigerians. He said the recent increment in the pump price has worsened the hardship Nigerian masses were contending with, further said "Nigerians are hopeful that there will be positive turn around in the country but measures to achieve this must be accelerated. "There is no doubt that the president is doing everything humanly possible to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, but a faster approach must be considered. "The president should ensure that every bureaucratic bottleneck that is impeding the swift implementation of policies that will put smiles on the faces of the masses is removed. "The economic suffering the masses are currently going through is becoming unbearable and the president must act fast." Oyintiloye also urged the president to address the delay in the implementation of the suspension of customs duties and taxes on imported food items two months after the initiative was announced. The ex lawmaker also said since the initiative was said to be part of measures to combat rising food inflation across the country, there should not be any delay in its implementation. Oyintiloye, recalled that on August 7, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, assured that the implementation of the policy would commence the following week once the guidelines were ready, lamenting that up till now, the policy was yet to be implemented He said, "There no doubt that the president is passionate and willing to put smiles on the faces of the masses but those who are in charge of implementing these policies should not be seen as road blocks. "The president gave a directive to the authorities of the Nigeria Customs Services that a 150-day duty-free window to allow the importation of maize, husked brown rice, and wheat and almost two months after this is yet to be implemented. Let’s stay on this topic of #Prohibition for a while. In the next few days, I'll attempt a root-cause analysis of why #Prohibition failed. I'll use the 5-Whys to trace the root of a single causal factor, being as objective as possible (anyone is welcome to trace another). We’ve identified the response to the first ‘Why’ as unintended consequences. I will explore this further and share my thoughts. #Prohibition.

It was interesting watching this documentary on 'Prohibition.' Lessons from that era in the U.S. underscore the importance of analyzing public health policies for unintended consequences. Though the prohibition policy had very good intentions, the associated unintended consequences caused more harm than good. I'm afraid that we're still making similar mistakes in public health today by enacting policies that are not critically analyzed before adoption. The public health response to COVID-19 is a good example, though we can argue that we were all taken unawares by a novel pathogen. That is what happens when the world fails to prepare for the future. Coming out of this crisis, I hope we'll be better prepared next time. We have a unique opportunity to build back stronger. We can't achieve this if all we do is point fingers rather than roll our sleeves and get on the job! https://lnkd.in/eMA-9Vz3

Post 1: Acute Drupa fever is transmitted by MP-3 songs The ESC (Euro Vision Song Contest) was yesterday, today there is the DSC, the Drupa Song Contest. Anyone who has ever danced through the trade fair in the morning at the start of the fair, in a good mood because of a Drupa song, knows what acute Drupa fever feels like. I am already infected and this relatively harmless virus is transmitted by certain MP-3 songs. Symptoms? A thirst for knowledge about print & packaging. According to unconfirmed rumors, the thirst can last well into the evening, away from the hustle and bustle of the trade fair in Düsseldorf's old town. But the healing Drupa song will be back the next morning at the latest. Unfortunately, pictures and voting fields cannot be used together in one post and the maximum number of voting fields are 4 here on LinkedIn and therefore we need by 8 songs, 2 voting posts. Together in total 3 posts for 1 thing. I am sorry for that . To make it easy, the voting posts have following Links: Vote Song 1 - 4 https://lnkd.in/dH5TB-Vq Vote Song 5 - 8 https://lnkd.in/dytDKRjE The songs you can hear or/and download with this Link: https://lnkd.in/dBTFbd94

what are the things you wished the unity govn has done? as for me, i wish that the govn would impose higher tax on unhealthy food such as salt and sugar to increase their revenue and at the same time reduce the burden on the health care department. just as they remove subsidy for eggs and chicken which is kinda staple food for us, why not do the same to the two beasts above? well, the next thing we have to face this year will be removal of subsidy for fuel and probably my guess is no more cheap rice, oil and flour. well, we will just have to suck up to it. what are your thoughts?
