Hydratech Drives Sustainability in Barcelona's Groundbreaking Cold Recovery Project. Hydratech is proud to have played a pivotal role in one of Barcelona's most ambitious sustainable energy initiatives, partnering with Veolia, Enagás, and the Barcelona City Council. This pioneering project harnesses the waste cold generated by the city's LNG terminal to create a large-scale, low-carbon urban cooling network. Our contribution extended beyond simply supplying approximately 1.7 million liters of our innovative Coolflow DTX™. Our team of engineers oversaw the complete system filling (over 8km of pipes), a process spanning more than six months. This project is a testament to Hydratech's commitment to environmental responsibility and technological innovation. To ensure long-term thermal efficiency and minimize environmental impact, we're implementing our comprehensive Fluid Management Program (FMP). The FMP not only optimizes fluid lifespan but actively prevents corrosion and bacterial growth in closed-loop systems, furthering the project's sustainability goals. Our technical support extends from project inception to ongoing maintenance, ensuring optimal system performance. Project Highlights: Location: Port of Barcelona, a model of public-private collaboration. Environmental Impact: This system will prevent the emission of 32,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Technology: Utilizes waste cold (-20°C) for large-scale urban cooling, supplied via the largest district cooling network in Southern Europe (generating 131 GWh per year). Coolflow DTX™ ensures optimal thermal efficiency. Infrastructure: Supplies numerous buildings in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, including the Fira, the Generalitat's administrative district, industrial centers, hotels, and offices. This project showcases how innovation and public-private collaboration can create sustainable, efficient urban solutions. We at Hydratech are delighted to be part of initiatives that positively impact our cities. As I'll be visiting this site soon, let me share a bit about this one of my favorites projects #kijijiproject Project name: Sustainable village library Location: Kasisa-Sengerema The lìbrary also serves as a reception of the sustainable village center to be built in Kasisa village, the design involves local materials innovation, renewable energy, simulations and performance analysis during different seasons. Practical own innovation was achieved as we visited the village, discussed with users and came up with innovative solutions that could improve village standard of living. Energy data based technology analysis was also performed to prove that the innovated materials & design attain confort zone for users as per site location. The solutions were then sent back to the community and they loved it🙏 Project author: Zacharia Bithulo & Jackson Tarimo #sustainablearchitecture #zahahadidarchitects #ugreen #

Invention doesn’t require any degree.

Inspired by Brazilian mechanic Alfredo Moser's idea, bottles filled with bleach and water provide indoor lighting equivalent to a 40-60 Watt bulb during the day. Since 2011, MyShelter Foundation has transformed this concept into a global movement, teaching communities in countries like India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Argentina, and Fiji to install these lights. For night-time lighting, Liter of Light developed a solar energy system with a panel, battery, and LED lamps. This project not only offers sustainable lighting but also empowers communities by teaching them to utilize renewable energy.

This Thursday, you will have the chance to get an exclusive insight into innovation in the Icelandic Energy sector! 🤝 Carbfix's Gunnlaug Helga Ásgeirsdóttir and Silja Yraola will tell you all about CodaTerminal, one of Iceland's most extensive climate project 🌍 The world's climate goals will not be achieved without significantly reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Coda Terminal will be the world’s first CO2 mineral storage hub at Straumsvík, Iceland. Using the Carbfix technology, CO2 will be permanently stored underground by dissolving it in water and injecting it deep into basaltic formations, where it is rapidly turned into stone through a natural process. The CO2 will be transported to Iceland from elsewhere in Europe, but Coda will also be able to store CO2 captured from local industries or directly from the atmosphere. By 2032 Coda Terminal will be able to mineralize 3 million tons of CO2 per year, which amounts to more than half of Iceland's annual CO2 emissions. Secure your spot here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eKt8w6HG The event is part of Iceland Innovation Week
