♻ In 15 years #Stockholm will be climate neutral 🎉   ...And to reach such an ambitious goal, the city is investing hard in making its #districtheating sustainable 💶. Sweden's capital flagship initiative, Open District Heating, seeks to integrate #datacentres into the local DH network. Stockholm is home to a multitude of such centres, and more than 20 joined the project. The #recoveredheat from these DCs can heat up to 30.000 modern households 🖥. Such ambition merits a spot on #SUPPORTDHC's #SuccessStories.   👩💼 The #innovation goes beyond the technical side. Stockholm authorities adopted a #businessmodel that attracted partners to the project and ensured sustainable #financing for the necessary investments. The #EHPSummit 2024 has begun! 🎉 We kicked off with an inspiring keynote from Polish Deputy Minister of Climate, Krzysztof (Chris) Bolesta, who outlined Poland's bold plan to cover all heat needs with #districtheating and low-emission solutions by 2040. With coal being phased out from urban heating by 2030, the stakes are high! As recalled by Euroheat & Power's President Janne Kerttula, accelerating #Europe's heating and cooling transition is a no-brainer whether we're aiming for affordable #energy #prices, energy #sovereignty or #climateaction. We need a massive investment plan to deploy sustainable district heating and cooling networks, and better planning and support measures, to accompany European #citizens in this journey. 💪 The tone is set, and the work has barely started. 🏁 Over the next two days, we are ready to pave the way for an ambitious European mandate, with heating and cooling decarbonisation at the centre 📍.
