Kiongozi Consulting - a trauma-informed consulting firm

Are you involved with a youth-serving organization?  Chances are that many of the children you serve come from trauma-filled backgrounds, and they might not fit the stereotype you have in your mind. Data from SAMHSA’s National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative finds that more than two-thirds of children reported at least one traumatic event by age 16 Without proper training in trauma-informed practices, there's a high risk of inadvertently retraumatizing these children. How does this happen?  Consider the common practice of asking kids to bring in a baby picture. For many foster children, this simple request can evoke painful memories, as they might not have such mementos due to their unique life experiences. Investing in trauma-informed training equips your team with the necessary tools to create a supportive and understanding space for all children, regardless of their backgrounds.   Reach out if you want to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and respected in your programs. #YouthServices #TraumaInformedCare #ChildWellbeing #EmpathyInAction #SupportingChildren #InclusivePrograms #MentalHealthAwareness #ChildTraumaAwareness #SafeSpaces #EmpowerKids #childabuseprevention

This is so true Kristen Brock, M.S. (she/her) being a grandparent and raising a 6 yold with a lot of trauma. I find a lot of her homework is meant for only a child with a “father and a mother”. I will not list all of them, too many. These trainings are so important and not available enough.
