What does it truly mean to be a team? In our company, we have a metaphor called The Line. It represents what it takes for teamwork to actually work. We each must do our part to stand at The Line. As a leader, it is something I reflect on often and always before l look at those on my team. Am I doing everything I can to meet my team there? Am I owning my part of the equation? Am I creating an environment that would make my team want to meet me at The Line? It really is so simple, and yet, it is powerful enough to change everything. Imagine a world in which every single person owned their part of the equation and met at The Line. We would have a different world! What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Tell me in the comments! 🧡
I love this metaphor. And I love your use of the word "courageous" because at some companies, with some leaders, it can feel like a trap to approach them (and the line) for anything. But as you say, there is always permission to leave if things aren't working well at the line, right? Thanks for this great idea, Kristen!
100% agree. In order to function successfully both personally & professionally we must all own our responsibilities in order to stand at The Line. As simple as this may sound I think it comes with establishing a mindset that being part of a team is much larger than one's self.
Beautifully articulated! Accountability all-around in uplifting each other.
agree. Nice work Kristen
Interesting viewpoint!
