As I understand the excitement around this is due to the speed of making these assets & their versatile use cases in comparison to a technology called photogrammetry (time consuming but allows interaction) or 3d modeling (way more time consuming) Check the following timestamps if you are in a rush and dont want to watch the whole thing, which I recommend for the way it's done: 0:56 - 1:47 - They compare Sony NeRFs to Photogrammetry results & mention the time taken to develop these assets was 10days. 1:54-4:20 - Watch the short film. End with a reveal of the the virtual production set. Pretty cool. I was already curious about virtual production, this has made me even more so. It's a given that virtual production is gonna explode. This seems like a big step forward in further streamlining production processes & increase creative flexibility.
