Another reason why Centurion Military Alliance (CMA) exists… In the Military we are 100% committed to our Service! The civilian sector is not that way - we have to be open to job changes, and opportunities that allow us to further grow, this isn’t an indictment on the previous position. Stay relevant in your job, while simultaneously staying open to opportunities by: 📌 Continuous Learning: Regularly update your skills through courses, certifications, and workshops. 📌 Networking: Build and maintain professional relationships within and outside your industry to include professional organizations. 📌 Stay Informed: Keep up with industry trends, news, and advancements to remain knowledgeable. 📌 Flexibility: Be adaptable to change and willing to take on new, challenging roles. 📌 Personal Branding: Maintain a strong online presence through platforms like LinkedIn - don’t allow an organization to “change” the brand you’ve worked for - they should want to “enhance” the brand they hired you for. 📌 Performance Excellence: Consistently deliver high-quality work and exceed expectations. 📌 Feedback Loop: Seek and act on feedback from peers, supervisors, and mentors. 📌 Set Career Goals: Regularly reassess and set long-term and short-term career objectives. 📌 Soft Skills: Always continue to work on strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills… one never perfects this skill - this is a lifelong learning commitment. 📌 External Opportunities: Stay open to and actively seek new job opportunities and career paths. 📌 Mentorship: Seek mentors and offer to mentor others to build a robust support network. 📌 Work-Life Balance: Maintain a healthy work-life balance to avoid burnout and stay motivated. Congratulations again to my Father, Dr. Steven L. Hall for continuing to pave the way for us all!

I would like to say thank you to everyone at SANY AMERICA who has played a vital role in building and sustaining our Attachment Project at the ECDC. Being chosen to work on this project by a colleague has truly shown me what a mentor really is. When he talked, I listened and paid close attention and vice versa. He knows engineering and systems and I know how to manage people and implement processes. Our talent isn’t what made this project so successful, it was our respect and trust amongst one another for what we knew individually that made this project flourish. One thing, there was a slight language barrier and a few cultural differences. We identified this early on to be the key building block to our future success. Not understanding each other and knowing it made the job fun. We talked about family, music, travel, work, but the best life lesson was being introduced to the stoic philosophy. Stoic is a person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining. If you want to be happy, have zero expectations. Don’t try to change others. Change how u deal with them. Most importantly if it makes sense, DO IT!!

Yep, still love marking. I must do, to spend this glorious Northern Beaches day indoors 😊. Here are some of the topics on the reading list today: - An analysis of “lying flat” through the lens of self-determination theory. - Pairing intuition with data-driven approaches to improve lawyer decision-making in complexity. - I would not have seen it if I did not believe it: critically analysing the implications of confirmation bias in lawyer decision-making. - The importance of leader emotional agility as an enabler of effective performance dialogue. - Psychological safety and in-house lawyering; is there room? - A critique of the Cynefin framework: complexity of concepts and language cause challenges in practice. - The role of psychological safety in employee voice and silence in a law firm. - Psychological safety, collaboration and performance in the human complexity of a global mining company. Interestingly, nobody in this class seems to have taken me up on my standing invitation to use their essay to critically analyse LLE through the lens of intersectionality. Thank you to all the wonderful professionals from around the world who have chosen to do LLE with me so far. It has been a joy to work with you.

Power of One Thank you my Carro Thailand team for the February performance, I appreciate your good teamwork, energy and efforts. Great things in business are never done by one person, they are done by a team of people who focus on the same mission. What I like most about the retail business is the month end closing when I can see all team members start to push the team, we can feel the energy flows and the adrenaline rush. Some with happy faces and smiling and some with sad faces and droopy eyes, maybe still short of one unit to hit the target. My personal advice to my team this month, learn from the mistakes and think about the Power Of One. Think about the extra one thing that can move the needle from bad to good and from good to excellent. If we had only done that one more thing that will make big improvement to our performance. If I sell one more… If I contact one more prospect every day.. If I create one more posting in social media.. If I completed the document one day earlier.. If I buyin one more stock everyday… If I created one more ticket everyday.. and Many more….. This is what I call Power Of One, the one extra thing that can make big impact to the performance. The extra one effort will be the key to make all the difference, extra minute when you talk to customers, extra kindness you provide to your clients, extra phone call you answered, extra ticket that you contact, the list is endless but the different is infinite. If you want to be the best, then the power of one is the distinguishing factor between good and excellent. All the best and let us together make March to be Excellent.

Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day. And we need it! With the uncertainties posed by climate change, and the challenges of achieving Net Zero, we need all hands on deck – getting creative, being innovative, and exploring all the options in front of us. All engineers are creatives – though I have found that many don’t think of themselves that way. In the arts, the product of creativity may be a performance or a painting, a novel or a song. I love art and music - it inspires me, moves me and challenges me. In engineering, the product of creativity is solutions – new technologies, sure, but also troubleshooting, new ways of working, new ways of thinking. It’s often called ‘problem solving’. Perhaps this World Creativity and Innovation Day, we could celebrate all the creative problem solvers we know! Thank you for all you do! At FLSmidth Cement I have the pleasure of working with many bright engineers - many problem solvers, many innovators. I enjoy every moment of it. Who is your favorite problem solver/innovator?
