Each year, our #kwofpa team in New Stanton is proud to partner with the New Stanton Assembly of God to help with its Angel Tree project and food pantry needs. This year, the store helped more than 35 kids/families with their Christmas wish lists! We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of our New Stanton team!

We have a story in the latest issue of Neighbourhood Media detailing all the work we do via Addison Road Food Pantry Camperdown, our low-cost grocery store which makes use of rescued, donated and purchased food to support the local community and its needs. The story (link below) shows how we help feed people from Mission Australia's Common Ground housing project and the nearby Johanna O’Dea Court, a multi-storey NSW Family and Community Services apartment block. It also explains how we serve people living on a tight budget in Camperdown and Glebe, as well as people who come to the pantry from right across the City of Sydney LGA. Most of all, the story is a celebration of our monthly Addi Road 'Let's Get Cooking' sessions (AKA "the Cook-Up"), which offers 260 free hot meals for Mission Australia and Joanna O'Dea residents, as well as those shopping at our Addi Road Food Pantry Camperdown. These sessions involve a monthly cooking demo inside the Common Ground building. Food literacy is the ultimate goal behind Addi Road's Let's Get Cooking program. As well as simply providing a free hot meal (and dessert) each month, we look at helping people to shop AND cook with often very limited funds. Each month there are easy recipes on offer (and ready to be tasted) along extra tips for stocking people's kitchen cupboards; a list of essentials to facilitate simple, inexpensive and nutritious recipes that will match whatever Addi Road Food Pantry might have in stock. It's about building an integrated food ecology for people battling. With a few extra special ingredients over a shared meal as the community comes together: camaraderie and connection. + #Addiroad #cityofsydney #foodrelief #foodjustice #housing #inequality #Camperdown #Glebe #MissionAustralia #homeless #battling #costofliving #poverty #resilience #mentalhealth #wellbeing #nutrition #diet #charity #community #freemeals #cookingworkshop #volunteers #caring #education #connection #letsgetcooking #neighbourhoodmedia https://lnkd.in/gs7vVEvM

Goodr and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens have partnered to open a free grocery store in Fulton County to address food insecurity among elderly residents and low-income communities in a food desert. Located at the William Walker Recreation Center, the store provides essential groceries to families and seniors struggling with rising food costs. This initiative builds on Goodr's ongoing efforts, including partnerships with Atlanta Public Schools and nationwide programs to combat hunger. https://lnkd.in/gdWJuZ4z

Did you know that one in five children in the U.S. experience food insecurity? For kids that rely on free or reduced-priced meals at school, summer can mean a lack of access to nutritious food. That’s why we’ve joined Albertsons Companies Foundation’s first-of-its-kind coalition of food banks/food pantries, school districts, community organizations, and other partners across the country to help tackle hunger. Check if your household qualifies for $120 for groceries per eligible child through USDA’s new, permanent Summer EBT program at SummerEBT.org

Yesterday, I had the privilege of volunteering at the Allegheny County Food Bank, where our team packed 960 boxes of essential food items for senior citizens in our community. This experience was not only fulfilling but also a vivid reflection of the values I embrace daily at Amazon. 📦 **Customer Obsession**: Each box was packed with the understanding that we're not just sending food; we're sending care, nutrition, and respect to those who need it most. 🔗 **Ownership**: Taking ownership of our collective goal, each volunteer was integral in ensuring we met our target. It was a powerful reminder that every effort counts, no matter the scale. 🔄 **Invent and Simplify**: We streamlined the packing process, implementing a simple assembly line that maximized efficiency and minimized wait times. Innovation isn't just for the workplace; it thrives wherever there's a need. 👫 **Hire and Develop the Best**: Working alongside volunteers from diverse backgrounds, it was clear that a community thrives when it leverages varied skills towards a common good. 🎯 **Deliver Results**: The goal was ambitious, but so was our commitment. Packing 960 boxes meant 960 opportunities to make a difference, and we delivered. This experience was a powerful reminder of how the principles that guide us professionally also resonate in our community contributions. I am proud to be part of a team that not only supports, but encourages us to give back. Here’s to making a difference, one box at a time! #Volunteering #CommunityService #LeadershipInAction #AmazonLeadershipPrinciples #DeliveringSmiles Amazon

Today as we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, it's important to remember that not everyone in our community has the same opportunity. Many still face the challenges of food insecurity. 🦃 Together, with the support of incredible organizations like the Food Bank of Northern Nevada we can continue working toward reducing hunger in our region. 🥫 Let's give thanks and give back. ❤️ #TruckeeMeadows #TMT #TruckeeMeadowsTomorrow #DataStorytelling #DataForGood #Community #CommunityProgress #CommunityProgressReport

In response to food insecurity in the Woodhill community during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharon Stone and former FCPS colleagues created the Woodhill International Market. The initiative offers bi-weekly grocery "shares", providing fresh produce on a sliding scale from $15 to $40. Families pay what they can afford, ensuring access to nutritious food regardless of financial situation. The program helps ease the burden of food costs while supporting community wellness. Filmed and edited by me!

999? It’s an emergency! 🚨 Millions of pumpkins are in danger. 🎃 The average family throws away £80 of food every month. Halloween is no exception. Last year, over 12 million pumpkins ended up in the bin. 😱 Each one could have been a delicious feast: a risotto, muffins, or pumpkin mac and cheese. 🧑🍳 So save the knives for later and don't carve your pumpkin: decorate it instead. Less mess, less stress, and you can eat the whole thing after. 😋 Have you tried decorating it yet? Check the new promo film below and catch it on All4 throughout the month as part of our Eat Your Pumpkin campaign. ++ P.S. I'm CEO of environmental charity Hubbub. Managing the logistics and volunteers for the 9/11 Day Meal Packing Event was no small feat, but incredibly rewarding! With over 1,000 volunteers, multiple shifts, and thousands of meals to pack, there were a lot of moving parts to ensure everything ran smoothly. #LogisticsManagement #VolunteerManagement #ServiceDay #911Day #TeamWork #LeadershipInAction

A lot of companies talk a good game. Cambro Manufacturing actually walks the walk. They don't rest on their good products and their good reputation in the industry, and they do make great products and are highly regarded. We all have Cambro's in the BOH, kitchen, often a lot of them... 🍪 This program says a lot about who they are outside the kitchen. 👏 #helpinghand #giving #corporateresponsibility #foodindustry
Britt Parnell is on a mission to help feed the people of Baton Rouge through community fridges. Ahead of Thanksgiving, he prepared 50 festive feasts that will provide a nutritious meal for those in need 🍴 Through our Cambro Cares program, we were able to provide Britt with food storage for prep and GoBoxes to safely transport meals to where the fridges are located. Cambro Cares was created to support organizations that nourish our communities. To nominate your organization, visit www.cambrocares.com
