Hello #Network, Why is Healthcare Construction so important? 🏥 Take a deep dive with me to learn more about the uniqueness and importance of Healthcare Construction! 🏗
🏗 A Deep Dive into Healthcare Construction 🏥 Due to the complexity of healthcare construction projects, effective project management and coordination among architects, engineers, contractors, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies are essential to ensure successful outcomes. One of our many specialties at Lumicity is that we help place commercial construction professionals with General Contractors across the United States. GC's often look for experienced healthcare-specific construction professions such as Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, Estimators, Project Designers and Electrical Engineers to name a few. Lumicity has placed thousands of construction professionals with reputable GCs to complete healthcare construction and life science projects much like this photo of The Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, the largest medical center in the world! 🌎 Healthcare construction is not just about building physical structures but creating environments that promote health, safety, innovation, and community well-being. By focusing on these aspects, healthcare construction plays a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery and improving the overall quality of life for individuals and communities for generations to come. #GeneralContractors #Network #Construction

On Friday November 8, 2024, I had the privilege of moderating the MOSHE panel on Construction Projects: Best Practices and Lessons Learned. I want to extend my gratitude to the panelists Katlyn Howard, Christopher Viviano, Phillip Lee, and Erica McAllister and to MU Healthcare for hosting this outstanding event. The discussions were insightful and provided several key takeaways: "90-Day Live-In Directive" Katlyn Howard from MU Healthcare introduced the concept of a "90-Day Live-In Directive." This approach encourages users to fully utilize their new spaces for 90 days before submitting change requests. While significant flaws or issues are addressed promptly, the directive minimizes premature changes driven by users' initial discomfort or desire to replicate previous workflows. Over time, users typically adapt to the new environment, reducing unnecessary modifications and controlling post-project costs. Identifying Shutdown Areas in Design Documents: During the Q&A, the importance of clearly identifying shutdown areas and systems in design documents for renovation projects was emphasized. This practice ensures that healthcare facilities teams and contractors are adequately informed about critical system shutdowns and notification requirements. Developing a roadmap or matrix for these shutdowns can streamline coordination and reduce risks during construction. Consistent Communication and Team Continuity: A recurring theme throughout the session was the necessity of clear communication and team continuity. Retaining the same key personnel from all teams across the project's lifecycle helps prevent breakdowns in communication and knowledge transfer. Frequent changes in points of contact often lead to miscommunication, rework, and project delays. Realistic Budgets and Schedules: The panel highlighted the need for organizational leadership to set realistic budgets and schedules. While aggressive timelines may seem advantageous initially, they can result in team fatigue and compromises in project quality. Similarly, setting an inadequate budget from the outset often leads to challenges in delivering critical project features, ultimately hindering the project’s success. This discussion was a valuable learning experience, providing practical strategies to improve project outcomes. Thank you again to all involved! #LawrenceGroup #Healthcare #Design

Training is essential for all industries and companies. For architects, engineers, and construction teams, great training can keep people safe and even save lives. It might be no surprise that the average AEC firm spends $1200 training each employee every year. (Does that number sound like a lot? Reach out to us to learn how you can save by consolidating all your training needs) #AEC #ArchitectTraining #EngineerTraining #ConstructionTraining #SafetyTraining

A Newton-Wellesley Hospital project team led by Wise Construction engaged in a productive rough-in phase planning session today. Appropriately most of the session focused on developing a common understanding of the work, allowing trade contractor leaders to negotiate and agree upon task handoffs and durations. In the photo, Senior Superintendent John DaSilva leads a review of the first pass of the plan for a typical block of four patient rooms. The sequence of tasks on the wall will be replicated throughout the floor. #CapitalProjects #LeanConstruction #PhasePlanning #PullPlanning #ProjectManagement #Lean #RisingTerrain
