Thought I knew everything about senior care! (Turns out, the learning and improving never stops. Let me show you why.) Hey LinkedIn folks, Last year, I jumped from being a personal support worker into running my own senior care business, Proximity Care. Believe me, it's been quite the ride with more dips than climbs at times, but every challenge has been a lesson in disguise. 🔍𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: My initial plan? Simple. Pair up PSWs with clients, set a care plan, train, and go. Reality taught me otherwise. Human needs aren't static; → they change. That means our approach can't be set in stone either. ↳ We're constantly tweaking how we do things, making sure our care really fits the person we're helping. 🗣️𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿: Opening up real conversations, that's where the magic happens. It's easy for PSWs to just follow a script unless you really show them what caring looks like. → And for clients, especially those new to receiving care, it's about making sure they feel comfortable to speak up and tell us what they really need. 📈 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: Many clients might just nod and smile, trusting us because, well, we're the 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴. ↳ But true professional care is about partnership. We need to encourage them to tell us their true feelings, so we can make their care as perfect for them as possible. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: Leading in care means never stopping learning and always striving to make sure everyone—clients and staff—feels understood and valued. Because what's the point if we're not genuinely making lives better? P.S. Keen on enhancing senior care? Drop me a message!
