We’re not converting trials, pilots, POCs into revenue. Our pilots keep getting extended. It’s a pretty common problem for early stage legal tech companies. Sometimes its a problem with the pilot itself. Not enough training or support, limited check-ins etc. But it's more likely that the problem originates far earlier in the events leading up to it. 1. Limited qualification that you have the right prospective client (and users) for a pilot / trial. 2. Lack of understanding of what you need to prove in the pilot for the company to progress to deployment. 3. Not clearly understanding the steps post pilot, before the pilot starts. Without these, you’re throwing precious resources at potentially never ending pilots that are less likely to convert. And there's the dreaded follow up. “I just wanted to check in….” Ain’t nobody got time for that. Your prospective customers included. I’m Alex, founder of Legal Tech Collective. Investments in LegalAI saw some astonishing numbers earlier this year. Open-AI backed LegalTech startup Harvey raised $100mn at $1.5bn valuation. https://lnkd.in/eQsZn4sy Canadian legaltech giant Clio raised $900mn at a $3bn valuation in a round led by some of the leading names in the investor fraternity. https://lnkd.in/eNUvsTwa These two deals are arguably some of the biggest the #legaltech industry has seen. What does this trend suggest? In the short term, this may push for the development of: ➡️ More sophisticated AI tools for legal research and analysis, likely to be more customisable for each user’s preference ➡️ Intuitive and more streamlined legal processes and enhanced approaches in cloud storage for data ➡️ Innovation in business models and service offerings of legal professionals ➡️ Entry of more players in the LegalAI field - higher specialisation and eventually more integration in their service offerings and of course, unfolding of more changes in the future. In the long term, we might be seeing established LegalAI providers changing the landscape of legal service delivery. Over years, we might even see newer product offering for the larger citizen/consumer facing market in the legal space as well. It will be interesting to watch how the Bar Associations and Regulators react to the changes that seem still at bay for the moment. #LegalInnovation

The Legal Tech Adoption Myth: What's Really Happening? Remember when everyone said lawyers hate technology? That narrative is dead. Here's what's actually happening in 2024: 📱 Most lawyers are actively seeking tech solutions 🤔 The real challenge? Too many choices, not resistance 💡 Data shows increasing adoption of both legal-specific and mainstream tools 🔄 The focus has shifted from "Why adopt?" to "Which solution?" The takeaway: Legal tech startups need to solve the paradox of choice, not the adoption barrier. Success lies in clear differentiation and solving specific problems, not convincing lawyers to use technology. What's your experience? Are lawyers embracing your solutions or struggling with too many options? #LegalTech #Innovation #LawFirms #StartupLife

Thank you Techminded Lawyers appreciate your message, it’s always a pleasure to share my knowledge and experience.Thank you for the opportunity.Glad I was able to be of value alongside other amazing speakers Davidson Oturu Kelechi Achinonu and Onyinye (Maryann) Nwokolo whom I admire for the incredible work they are doing in the tech ecosystem. A recap of my points: 1. You have to know Startup/Tech Law and understand that the principles that apply to SMEs are different from what applies to Startups. 2. To succeed as a tech lawyer, you have to have a creatively elastic mind; like I always tell my team, every single meeting with a Founder takes us to a different planet as these founders are building different dreams and different worlds; today, you are in Pluto, (and I don’t mean Shallipopi 😁) next Neptune; you have find a way to allow their dreams take flight within the ambits of the Law and principles guiding startups. 3. Get ready to be available at all times and at odd times. Startups don’t sleep, once their product goes live, it’s like clockwork. I have had to take meetings as late as 11pm, and as early as 1am; even during the weekend and public holidays. 4. Get ready to be immersed into the systems and structures of these startups. Sometimes you have to join their standups and specialized communication tools like slack, trello and so on. 5. You have to understand the tech ecosystem language, yes it has its own vocabulary, beyond just legal this will help you understand conversations and also advise appropriately. 6. You need to to be atop tech news, trends and also regulation; you need to follow to know what’s happening not just in different sectors but also in other ecosystems around the world. 7. Finally, to be a Tech Lawyer means you are subjected to a life of constant reading and upgrading your knowledge. Please share if you find this helpful. ✅ #BusinessLaw #StartupLaw #MotherInLawOfBusinesses
