#LGA invites you to join us for our upcoming #webinar #RegisterHERE: ➡ https://lnkd.in/epGKcfiC "A Fork in the Road: Collective vs. Philanthropy Across Generations on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) Family foundations commonly begin as vehicles for their founders’ giving and evolve to include other members with other interests. At some point in this evolution— typically catalyzed by factors such as generational transition, passing of founders, and increases in assets—families face an “inflection point,” and are forced to define the primary purpose of the family foundation. Some continue on a path of individuation, whereby the goal of the #familyfoundation is to support the personal philanthropic priorities of family members. Others opted to transition to a collaborative approach, seeking to create a common philanthropic vision and minimize individual influence. Our research found that families that pursued a more collaborative model for their family #philanthropy were more successful than those that had more individual approaches: participants reported that the foundations had greater impact, were more satisfied with their experience, and felt closer to their families as a result. These collaborative models are also more likely to continue over generations. Don't miss our webinar featuring #LGA Partners, Ashley Blanchard and Wendy Ulaszek, Ph.D., experts in #philanthropy and wealth utilization, as they discuss findings from their latest extensive research conducted jointly with the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP). #philanthropy #familybusiness #continuity

We LOVE collective giving - and this new report shows that a very, very many of you do too!! The latest landscape study of collective giving, In Abundance, shows that participation in collective giving has grown to 4,000 groups contributing over $3.1 billion — more than doubling its impact in seven years. This not only fuels greater civic engagement but also fosters improved mental well-being while bridging political divides. 1. Collective giving is democratizing and diversifying philanthropy. 2. Collective giving greatly expands what gets funded. 3. Collective giving pushes the bounds of how philanthropy is practiced. 4. Collective giving deeply impacts members themselves. 5. Collective giving is a catalyst for social cohesion and change. #GivingCircles #Philanthropy #SWWashington

The results are in! Giving Circles have profound impacts on the people who participant and the communities they represent and give back to. Some of my favorite takeaways from the "In Abundance" Report: --Collective giving is actively shifting the narrative around who is considered a “philanthropist.” --Collective giving groups center equity when making funding decisions. --Collective giving improves members’ health, wellness, and agency. --Collective giving spurs deeper levels of civic engagement.
