#NEXTWEEK Join Ashley Blanchard and Wendy Ulaszek, Ph.D., on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) for the webinar "A Fork in the Road: Individual vs. Collective Philanthropy Across Generations," focusing on their recent research on continuity in #familyphilanthropy. #RegisterHERE: ➡ https://lnkd.in/epGKcfiC Family foundations commonly begin as vehicles for their founders’ giving and evolve to include other members with other interests. At some point in this evolution— typically catalyzed by factors such as generational transition, passing of founders, and increases in assets—families face an “inflection point,” and are forced to define the primary purpose of the family foundation. Some continue on a path of individuation, whereby the goal of the #familyfoundation is to support the personal philanthropic priorities of family members. Others opted to transition to a collaborative approach, seeking to create a common philanthropic vision and minimize individual influence. Our research found that families that pursued a more collaborative model for their family #philanthropy were more successful than those that had more individual approaches: participants reported that the foundations had greater impact, were more satisfied with their experience, and felt closer to their families as a result. These collaborative models are also more likely to continue over generations. Don't miss our webinar featuring #LGA Partners, Ashley Blanchard and Wendy Ulaszek, Ph.D., experts in #philanthropy and #wealth utilization, as they discuss findings from their latest extensive research conducted jointly with the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP). #webinar #familybusiness #philanthropy #continuity

Out today: Futures Philanthropy: Anticipation for the Common Good https://lnkd.in/drXWJdCG Just been listening to the authors discuss this. It's worth a look. Of the risks identified to philanthropy, one of the identified risks is the conservatism of boards and risk aversion - which is hugely interesting for me and Dr Beth Breeze OBE as we are working on a project called 'Moonshot Philanthropy' that is characterised by an ambitious risk appetite. #philanthropy #futures #foresight
