This week with Technip Energies we announced up to $200M from Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations | U.S. Department of Energy for Project SECURE. Project SECURE intends to deploy an integrated commercial process in the U.S. Gulf Coast region to capture CO2 from ethylene production and, once combined with low carbon intensity H2, recycle them into sustainable ethanol and ethylene. Funding award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for commercializing breakthrough CO2 to ethylene technology 🧪 The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations | U.S. Department of Energy has authorized the initiation of Phase 1 of the Sustainable Ethylene from CO2 Utilization with Renewable Energy Project (Project SECURE) and committed up to $200 million in federal funding throughout the project duration. We lead Project SECURE in partnership with LanzaTech and during this initial phase of the project, along with LanzaTech, we will conduct a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study, developing project plans, providing documentation and reports necessary to complete the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review. With greater demand for consumer goods in the coming decades, many of which rely on ethylene, we’re committed to contribute to the decarbonization of ethylene production by not only capturing carbon dioxide but by recycling it with low carbon intensity hydrogen to create sustainable ethylene.
