The annual observance of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on April 6th, 2024, provides an occasion to acknowledge the beneficial role that sport and physical activity play in communities and individuals worldwide. The global theme for 2024 is centred on "Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies." Here are four ways to participate in celebrating IDSDP: ·       Encourage community empowerment: Supporting communities to showcase their talents through sport supports cohesion and stability. ·       Utilise sport as a platform for learning: Just like play, sports offer valuable opportunities for children to learn teamwork and empathy alongside physical skills. ·       Promote understanding and tolerance: Engaging in local and international sporting competitions broadens perspectives, fostering cultural understanding and tolerance. ·       Stimulate economic growth: Developing nations often experience positive economic impacts when actively participating in sports, contributing to overall growth and development. What are the two major novelties of the Erasmus+ Programme compared to last years? Just to give you a quick recap before, there are 4️⃣ Erasmus+ actions in the field of sport that are managed at European level, within the Programme's Key Action 2 - Cooperation among organisations and institutions: 1️⃣ Small-scale Partnerships (SSCP) 2️⃣ Cooperation Partnership (SCP) 3️⃣ Not-for-profit European sport events (SNCESE) 4️⃣ Capacity-building in the field of sport 🌍 Eligibility criteria - Who can apply? So-called Programme Countries are eligible to be applicant and partners. Programme Countries are: 🇪🇺 EU Members States and 🥉 Countries associated to the Programme (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Republic of North Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia) In Cooperation Partnerships, partners can join to the consortium from outside of the Programme Countries if their participation is justified. 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐲 1: This year partners are only eligible if they are from so-called Region 1, 2 or 3, namely Western Balkans, Neighbourhood East and South Mediterranean countries. 😔 This means that partners from UK and Switzerland cannot participate as eligible partners with dedicated budget. 🧗♀️ Eligibility - Eligible activities For European-wide Not-for-profit European sport events, the activity can take place in the applicant’s country. 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐲 2: If justified, the unique sport event can also take place in one of the participating organisations’ country. 🌟 Mine Vaganti NGO participated in the 2nd Transnational Project Meeting of the Collaborative Partnership in Sport project "Sport as a tool for successful rehabilitation of seniors" - CP Big Sport Fit-IN Rehab funded by the Erasmus Plus programme, held in Slovenia on the 6th of June.🤝 In the framework of the Fit-IN Rehab project, representatives from the five partner countries, including Slovenia 🇸🇮, Italy 🇮🇹, Serbia 🇷🇸, Austria 🇦🇹, and Croatia 🇭🇷, gathered in Slovenia. Partners have successfully created learning materials and detailed guidelines for implementing blended learning. These resources have been positively received and are currently being utilized by our target audiences. Furthermore, partners established a thorough training program for volunteers to ensure they are well-prepared to support our initiatives. Local events have been organized to involve communities and encourage active participation. In addition, a series of dissemination events are scheduled for the latter part of the project to expand our outreach and showcase our accomplishments to a broader audience. These strategic actions aim to enhance our project's impact and secure the sustainability of its results. Fit-IN Rehab aims to motivate seniors with disabilities aged 60+ after rehabilitation or treatment to perform sports exercises regularly, taking into account their condition (physical and mental) 💪🧘♀️. The goal is to create sports exercises that maintain mobility and promote good health 🌞. 📌 Erasmus+ Sport Info Day: why is it so important? 🌟 At EPSI, we are always up to date on the latest EU projects and funding opportunities to better support our members and the wider sports ecosystem. Today, we are attending the Erasmus+ Sport Info Day 2025, organized by the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). Why is this day so important? ✅ It provides essential insights into funding opportunities under the Erasmus+ Sport program (the main call in the EPSI network, but not the only one) ✅ It guides applicants through the application process, priorities, and updates for 2025. ✅ It fosters networking and collaborations for future projects. 🏀⚾We are happy to share with you some of the pictures from the Multiplier Sport Event Inclusion through Sport, that in May Mine Vaganti NGO has implemented. 🎤 🇪🇺📌The Multiplier Event was held in Sassari at the University of Sassari, within the framework of the project “For me For all” 4me4all - a cooperation partnership in the field of Sport project funded by the Erasmus Plus programme. The scope of the Multiplier Event was to disseminate the outcomes and insights gained throughout the project. This included hosting the final conference, which marked the conclusion of the 4me4all project, emphasizing the theme of inclusion through sport. Key activities highlighted were the implementation of focus groups, facilitating face-to-face interactions between children and educators working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds. On Europe Day it is crucial to recognise and grasp opportunities that enable us to come together, collaborate and deliver ways to cultivate, facilitate and create the European (and Global) Society that we all wish to see. Sport can act as a means, a unifier and a catalyst for these efforts. The Erasmus+ funding stream and other European Union initiatives create opportunities for new, exciting projects to be designed, developed and delivered and new relationships to be formed that will create a network for meaningful change, knowledge exchange and relationship building across the Continent and beyond. At the Sport Integrity Global Alliance we have developed, and are involved in, a range of such projects in areas including Gender Equity in Sport, the role of Artificial Intelligence on Sports Governance and Enabling the Next Generation of Sports Leaders. These will be delivered with an ever expanding collective of inspirational partners who are all dedicated to instilling greater Accessibility, Integrity, Transparency and Good Governance in Sport, which is a testament to collective action and unity across Europe and Globally. One of the projects that I am privileged to lead is The Sport Transparency Index, which attained funding under the Erasmus+ stream. This project will objectively assess European Sport Stakeholders in relation to their Transparency levels of a set of universally applicable Integrity indicators. It will work to improve standards by shining a light on current capacities and concurrently creating the means to facilitate positive change through associated education, policy recommendations and knowledge exchange initiatives and we look forward to bringing this to fruition and engaging with all likeminded stakeholders throughout the process.
