Let's get to the bottom of it 🕵♂️ What's so special about the base of a pot? Let's investigate... 🔎 Supervisor Alex is thrilled with this base, thanks to what has been left inside. We can analyse the contents to look for remains such as lipids (fats), pollen and other residues to see what exactly was stored in this pot. This can tell us what people were eating or transporting. We can date this pot base by looking at its shape and comparing it to known types (typological dating). What do you think was inside this pot? 🤔 #A428BlackCat Excavations are being undertaken by MOLA, as part of the National Highways A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements. 💫fact #granit It means "threshing of large colored grains" and is one of the most abundant igneous rocks and one of the strongest building stones that is formed from the gradual cooling of molten materials. The structure of this stone is mainly the crystal of quartz and feldspar minerals. The dimensions of these crystals are such that they can be easily seen with the eyes. The density of this type of stone is 2.75 grams per cubic centimeter. #granit

2001: Field trials with TerraCottem in an old sand quarry of the Beaulieu company in Louise-Marie, near Ronse. The different plots in the quarry were treated with varying doses of TerraCottem (see the color difference due to different levels of plant growth: the more TerraCottem, the darker). It is easy to see that the dark green plots on the left side of the quarry were treated with higher doses of TerraCottem. This is one of the clear examples we provided in Flanders demonstrating the positive effect of TerraCottem on poorer sandy soils.

so interesting to see
This piramid was made by quarrying the stone and leaving a bit of stone from each layer, and as you go down, increasing the area of stone that was left untouched. This means that almost everywhere in this photo once was filled with stone.
