It’s wonderful to finally put faces to the names we keep hearing about 😉. The night featured an exciting quiz that tested everyone’s general knowledge, Oktoberfest facts, and music tastes. Alongside that, there were classic Oktoberfest activities like 'spijker slaan' 🔨, 'sjoelen', grilling your own Bratwurst🌭, and enjoying unlimited beer 🍺. This celebration is extra special because it marks the first event organized by our brand-new Staff Association, the Beam Team! 💡 A big thank you to Beam Team members Jesper, Annelien, Jacqueline, Carina, Iris, and Vera. Ich liebe Oktoberfest: I love Oktoberfest 🍻 🍻 This year was my first time at the festival. I thought I was ready for anything, but I quickly learned that navigating the beer tents and giant pretzels requires a whole new level of strategy! Who knew that saying "Ein Bier, bitte!" could unlock so many opportunities? ... I DID! 😉 Between dodging enthusiastic lederhosen wearers and putting into practice my endless hours of German classes (I owe it all to you, Dr. Marta Kojnok), I was also pretty impressed by the way some brands marketed themselves at the festival. It makes sense since the festival draws around 6 million visitors each year. It's a great opportunity to capitalize on tourism and integrate your brand with the latest trends. When dealing with these trends, it's important to stay true to your brand, as consistency can vary based on your business model. Get involved in the conversation, keep your goals clear, and think about ways you can set yourself apart – it's a bit tricky but doable. Anyways, if you ever find yourself at Oktoberfest, remember: the key to success is brilliant branding and a well-timed "Prost!" ... and maybe knowing a couple of key phrases can also help. #Oktoberfest #MarketingMishaps #ProstToBranding

#Oktoberfest 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀! 🎉 I used to live right next to the 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘸𝘪𝘦𝘴𝘦, home to the world’s largest festival – Oktoberfest – which seems to be Germany’s calling card to the world. 🌍 Each year, it attracts over 7 million visitors from all corners of the globe. As a local resident in the neighbourhood, it often felt like a frenzy: everyone was becoming an Airbnb host, hotel prices were skyrocketing, and bakeries were bustling with unfamiliar faces buying 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘻𝘯 (traditional pretzels) 🥨. Supermarkets would fill with shoppers hunting for snacks and less-than-nutritious treats. Day and night, the streets would come alive with partygoers reveling in a heightened sense of 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘦 𝘥𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘳𝘦. 🎊 At times, it could all be a bit overwhelming! Yet, despite all the chaos, I find myself irresistibly drawn back to Oktoberfest. It’s the unmistakable spirit that captivates me: 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘯𝘥𝘭 and 𝘓𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘯, the sound of laughter, toasting to 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘎𝘦𝘮ü𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘬𝘦𝘪𝘵, and the vibrant atmosphere that effortlessly turns strangers into connections, or at the very least, makes it easier to break the ice. The Oktoberfest demonstrates how celebration fosters communication and builds meaningful connections. 🎈 Festivals serve as the universal key that brings people closer, whether in ancient times or today. 🍻 If you're planning a trip to Germany next month for #Oktoberfest, you'll actually be a little late - because Oktoberfest traditionally takes place at the end of September and runs into the start of October. It's a moveable feast, kicking off this year in two days' time - so there's still time to transport yourself to Munich, beer mug in hand! Here are a few other fun facts about one of Germany's best-known cultural institutions - despite its slightly touristy connotations these days, there's a lot to enjoy in its traditions: 🔵 ⚪ There are only six local breweries that are officially allowed to serve beer at Munich's Oktoberfest: Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner and Spaten. All of them launch special Oktoberfest beers in advance of the event - if you're lucky, you can even find some of them in specialist UK bottle shops. 🍺 🍺The beer style traditionally served at Oktoberfest is called Märzen, and is a more full-bodied, amber-coloured variety of lager. 🥛 🥃 You'll typically be served your beverage in a vessel known as a Maß (short for Maßkrug), which holds around a litre. It's pretty typically Bavarian, so you'll probably find that your beer comes in other shapes (such as slender Pilsner glasses) elsewhere in Germany. 🎡 🎢 It's not just beer at Oktoberfest these days - guests can also enjoy immersive games, a cinema and carnival rides (maybe not the wisest choice after a Maßkrug or three...) 🕛 🔨 Oktoberfest starts at 12 noon sharp with the mayor of Munich tapping the first barrel and announcing "O'zapft is!" Ses vi på Smukfest i år? 🎶🕺🌳 I disse dage afholdes årest Smukfest i Bøgeskoven ved Skanderborg og bliver du tørstig, så kommer du højst sandsynligt til at drikke af Danmarks første cirkulære koncertkrus! Smukfest samt andre festivaler og koncerter i hele Danmark, vil teste millioner af nye cirkulære krus fra Faerch gennem et projekt ledet af Royal Unibrew. På Smukfest betaler du pant på fem kroner, når du køber dit første krus, men afleverer man det retur i baren, er de efterfølgende krus til gengæld ikke pålagt pant. På Smukfest hedder konceptet ”byt til nyt” i håb om, at det vil øge mængden af krus, der gen-afleveres og således kan indgå i Royal Unibrew og Faerchs lukkede genanvendelsessystem. 🥛↔ ♻ Royal Unibrew forventer, at mindst 75 procent af de nye kopper kommer ind i Faerchs cirkulære genanvendelsessystem, hvilket gør dem til en virkelig cirkulær emballageløsning. "Hos Faerch er vi utrolig glade for at være en del af dette initiativ, hvor vi implementerer et system, der sikrer maksimal ressourceudnyttelse i en cirkulær proces, som teoretisk set kan gentages i det uendelige," siger Jesper Emil Jensen, vores Regional CEO. "Ved at indsamle og genbruge disse krus til nye eller fødevaregodkendte emballager, reducerer vi efterspørgslen efter nye råvarer og minimerer affaldsmængderne," slutter han. The other night I attended our October to Remember Black Tie Gala. It was incredible - a night to celebrate, to connect, and to give back. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us pull it off. But, for me, it was a night to reflect as well. Here are the 2 life-changing things I realized in the aftermath of the event… Firstly - as you probably know, we’re building a couple of companies right now - Obvi, our supplements brand, and Chewonthis DTC, our DTC media and events business. The two teams work in parallel - in different fields and with different offerings. But I realized at the Gala that they kind of have the same mission - to improve people’s lives. On the Obvi side, we’re making products that help our customers become happier and healthier. On the COT side, we’re helping other builders with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to create better businesses. I had not thought about it this way before, but it became clear at the Gala. For a moment, I got to step back and appreciate the impact we’re having and how rare an opportunity this is. We’re not just building a brand, and we’re not just building a resource hub and community. We’re building both and they are coming together to create this kind of flywheel - one that’s generating all sorts of benefits and impacts I could not have fully appreciated when we started. So I got to see our team come together and make something incredible. It was memorable to share the moment with them because the event would not have existed without either side. When you’re building there is so much head-down grinding and working, so it’s vital to have experiences like this you can cherish. Secondly - The picture you see here is our team from Obvi. They got to meet and mingle with 400+ other operators and founders at the Gala. Forget the drinks, the food, and the entertainment, all that - the biggest thrill for them was finding out how well-known and respected their work is. Team members can be motivated by all sorts of things - monetary rewards, equity, benefits, career opportunities - but respect and recognition from your peers is under-appreciated and something you can’t buy. Having our group come away from the Gala with that warm feeling is something that won’t be forgotten. Thanks again to everyone who supported, attended, and worked to make this night happen. I hope it was memorable for you too.
