Happy International Women’s Day 2024 Each year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done. In support of #IWD2024, we held an education session with our team exploring the differences between the interconnected concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. This year’s theme #InspireInclusion is centred on inclusivity: ensuring women feel seen, heard, valued and respected across all levels of society, government and the workplace. Diversity alone isn’t enough; women need equitable access to resources and opportunities and a seat at decision-making tables. We all succeed as an economy and society when this happens. We also broke down the recent WGEA Employer Gender Pay Gap Data, taking time to analyse the data and be prepared, as a company, to discuss the results with our customers. As passionate advocates for gender DEI, we are grateful to have the opportunity to support the advancement of women, particularly in leadership roles. Last year, more than 60% of our senior & C-suite appointments were female placements. We regularly help our customers exceed market levels of female representation in their permanent and contingent labour hiring in technology and telecommunications. It is achievable. Collectively, let's forge a more inclusive world for all. #launcherlife

In conversations about gender equality, you’ve likely heard the term “glass ceiling” – but what exactly does it mean? The glass ceiling term was first introduced as a metaphor by Marilyn Loden in 1978 during a speech (https://lnkd.in/eaP7CHbv). This concept refers to the invisible barriers that prevent women, especially in male-dominated fields like tech, medicine, and/or construction from rising to the highest levels of leadership, regardless of their qualifications or achievements. It’s a metaphor for the unseen limitations that women face when striving for success in their careers. Here’s why it matters: 1️⃣ Unseen but Real: The glass ceiling is not a formal policy, but it’s deeply rooted in biases and stereotypes that limit women’s opportunities for growth, especially in leadership roles. 2️⃣ Pay Inequality: It contributes to the gender pay gap, where women are often paid less than men for the same work, further hindering their upward mobility. 3️⃣ Lack of Representation: Women are still underrepresented in top tech positions. This imbalance reinforces the idea that only a select few can “break through” to leadership roles. According to a PwC UK tech report “Women in Tech Time to close the gender gap” in the UK 5% of leadership positions are held by women (https://lnkd.in/gkZ7pHU) 4️⃣ Impact on Confidence: These barriers can discourage women from pursuing high-level positions, fostering self-doubt and the belief that such roles aren’t attainable. 💡 At Wowtech we want to be part of the change and empower all women to break those barriers and thrive in their roles. #BreakTheGlassCeiling #WomenInTech #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #Leadership #EqualOpportunities #Wowtech #WomenInTech #DiversityMatters #ManchesterTech #Inspire #Empower #Support #Encourage #TechCommunity #WomenEmpowerment #TechGoals #Innovation #CareerGrowth #WomenInUX #WomenInDev #Innovation #UXTips #DevTips #FrontEndTips #Letsconnect #reach

Today I recieved a different celebration message for IWD from a male colleague. It took me by pleasant surprise and would love to share with you - all my talented connections in the field (HR/Culture/EX or any business). Attached is my favorite photo of our girls, smart, talented and proud in one of our memorable corporate events. And below is the full message. Please enjoy reading this & have an amazing day today and other days as well. ______ "🎉🎁💐HAPPY IWD to all the talented woman that grace our lives each day🥳💝🎊 The United Nations has designated the year 2024’s theme as ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ These themes align with our purpose for TMOD & CE. A strong reminder that International Women’s Day is not just a day to celebrate the achievements of women; it’s also a call to action for gender equality, encouraging reflection, advocacy, and action to continue breaking down barriers for women and girls around the world. ‼️Today please do not trivialize the importance of this global day by reducing it to “photos of cute girls”. These are proud mother, daughters, sisters that deliver exceptional value while performing extra social roles and yet still are limited in the same benefits as men. Please reflect on your views and think if this is what we want for our future, where; 🤰🏻A woman’s career can’t advance because they are mothers. 🧹A woman’s primary role is cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and not pursuing ambitions 👩👧A woman’s promotion plan is influenced by whether she plans to have children. 👧 A woman’s appearance is a factor in her success. 🤦♂️A woman can’t be independent and requires a male partner 🧑💼A woman has limited choices in career roles Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where equally we can ALL Be Greater." #corporateculture #employeeexperience #iwd2024 #womenday #techcombank

As we mark International Women's Day, its pretty great to be able to share some remarkable strides in gender equality, particularly in boardrooms across the UK's top companies where I read recently that women now hold 42% of board seats! It's undoubtedly a sign of progress, but for me it also serves as a poignant reminder of the journey that lies ahead. You might wonder at this point, why post about it? Isn't there a risk of it being perceived as singing to the same tune as everyone else on this marked day? Let me share why I believe posting on International Women's Day goes beyond mere advocacy and how it contributes to a larger narrative. Sharing on this occasion goes far beyond following a crowd; it needs to be about creating a catalyst for meaningful dialogues, heightened awareness, and a commitment to collective action for continued change. Each post carries the potential not only to inspire but also to educate and motivate individuals to take strides forwards that align with their beliefs, and contributing to positive change. It's not about being a woman; it's about being the right person for the task at hand, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and impact. Whilst we might celebrate the strides made on this marked day, it's essential to recognise the persistent obstacles that still demand attention. Recent articles shed light on the experiences of women in the tech sector, where we've witnessed a commendable leap forward, with the gender gap in tech jobs narrowing across the UK and EU. This progress is fuelled by factors such as flexible work arrangements and a rising demand for IT roles, facilitating a more inclusive work environment, particularly for working mothers. However, the call for greater diversity remains crucial, especially within the world of AI. In the realm of leadership, women often ascend to prominent roles during challenging periods, navigating at times real complexity in certain situations. While success stories demonstrate resilience, they also underscore the importance of providing support and opportunities for women to not only survive but thrive in such environments. Let this #InternationalWomensDay serve as a reminder of the power of collective action and the importance of striving for equity to achieve true equality. Your actions, whether large or small, contribute to building a future where everyone has the support and opportunity to thrive. #IWD2024 #WomenInTech #EqualityAndEquity #CollectiveAction 💪✨

Happy International Women's Day to all women out there! 💖 This year, the campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. Why #InspireInclusion? - According to the stats, the female labor force participation rate across the globe has been declining since 1990, going down from 50.9% to 47.7% at the end of 2019. - Also, only 26% of jobs in computer-related sectors are occupied by women. - The gender gaps are extremely high in case of STEM fields. United Nations chose this theme in order to empower women, make them realize their potential and that they include themselves, so as to ensure we achieve gender equality. #InspireInclusion is a beautiful theme, a reminder to all beautiful women out there, to recognize their strengths and consider themselves valuable. Involving yourself in various roles, be it design, STEM, business, sports or healthcare, taking decisions independently, leading communities or promoting your hidden talent, all comes under #InspireInclusion. An inclusive workplace is where everyone's voice is not just heard but also valued. It is a space where diversity is appreciated and an environment where women feel valued, respected and empowered to pursue their ambitions. So, let's truly appreciate this day, motivate our fellow girls and women and inspire inclusion. Let's work towards reducing this gender gap and promoting a safe and diverse environment for all. Let's motivate the women in our lives to stay strong, confident and bold always. 🩷✨️ #WomensDay #HappyWomensDay #WomenInTech #InspireInclusion #InternationalWomensDay2024 #IWD2024 #WomenInStem #WomenInEngineering
