This year we are on track to more than double Taco 📈📈 And there have been some real hurdles....⤵️ The things that used to work before may not work anymore. - Prior team members may not be a fit  - You need to bring in new team members for certain roles and functions - Communication gets impacted with more team members - There is a mixture of some team members onboarding and others at efficiency And that’s completely ok! At any business, there will always be problems! With the growth I’ve focused on trying to be reflective about what is working, where do I feel Taco is going, what do we need to get there, and chipping away week by week at each current challenge or potential challenge we foresee. 🌮🌮 I’ve learned that the best founders are like firefighters - going into a situation looking at problems objectively, talking to people who are 1 or 2 steps ahead, and experimenting with solutions. Has anyone else experienced growth related challenges? What has your process been?

Today, I stopped by the Corning Pizza Hut, wearing my custom Estornes&Boor #NoOneOutPizzasTheHut shirt, and noticed the team sporting some great new hats. I casually mentioned how much I’d love one, and to my surprise, Alecia, one of the amazing staff members, kindly brought one out for me! It was such a thoughtful gesture. But what truly stood out to me today wasn’t just the hat—it was the sense of community and teamwork in action. Despite the challenges of a hectic day and a few impatient customers, the entire CPH team remained friendly, apologetic for any delays, and worked incredibly hard to keep things running smoothly. As someone who’s worked in service and who currently has the privilege of leading a team, I know how important it is to remember that no matter how much planning goes into a day, unexpected challenges will always arise. And that’s where the importance of patience, respect, and community shines through. In moments like this, we should lift each other up. Whether you’re a customer or an employee, we’re all human, and a little kindness goes a long way. Instead of frustration, let’s show appreciation for those who work tirelessly to serve us. I truly believe the first 7 employees are one of the biggest factors in determining a company’s success. 💡 For me, the first few hires are everything. These early teammates don’t just fill roles—they set the tone for the entire company. They define our culture, set the bar for work ethic, and shape the identity of who we are and how we operate. What I find surprising is that in many conversations with investors, there’s so much focus on product, market fit, and growth strategies, yet very little emphasis on a team’s ability to build, scale, and manage an organization. For me, this is one of the most critical elements of any startup’s success—your ability to grow an internal organization can make or break your company. This leads to one of my core beliefs: there are always two products to build in any company—the one for your customers, and the one within your organization, your team. Startups often overlook how vital it is to build a strong internal team, but this is where the real magic happens. 🪄 Today, I’m excited to welcome Tyler Shortt to the team as our VP of Revenue. Tyler’s 16+ years of experience, especially in the wine and spirits industry, make him the perfect addition to Hippie Water. Like many families in the US, we have a running Taco Tuesday appointment. It's part of the fabric of our family and close friends, we all look forward to it each week. Not to ruin this kodak moment, but I have to say, this also applies to your brand. Want to see your group transform from co-workers to teammates? Build a culture. Establish rhythms. Things you do every year, every quarter, every week, every day. Your team doesn't have to pretend they are family, like many corporations say they are. But by having rhythms, you'll become more aligned, and you might even enjoy each other's company. Every group has a culture, whether they are intentionally creating it or not. One easy change you can make is to change the culture is to find something you all enjoy/find beneficial/productive and run it back.
