Today we are launching the 2024/5 GEM Report on leadership in education in Fortaleza, Brazil during the 2024 Global Education Meeting in the sidelines of the #G20! The report shows that education leaders, often overlooked, shape the direction of their institutions and teams. Their leadership styles vary widely, making it difficult to measure their impact. Yet the needfor good school, system and political leaders is acute to help drive education in the right direction, particularly as education challenges remain daunting. Alongside the report, we are launching the #LeadforLearning campaign inviting education leaders to place efforts to develop leaders in four key leadership dimensions so that they can: 👉 Set expectations 👉 Focus on learning 👉Foster collaboration 👉Develop people For these dimensions to be realized, people in leadership positions should be trusted and empowered; recruited through fair hiring practices; supported to grow; and encouraged to develop collaborative cultures. 📖 Access the report: https://lnkd.in/ePYiteee 📢 Share the social media messages: https://lnkd.in/eAjC3ekE 📽️ Tune in to the launch: https://lnkd.in/eRJV_gb9 And join the latest GEM Report UNESCO campaign!

Good to see management/leadership related research coming out of University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus that can actually be applicable to local businesses. Hopefully we will reach to the point where the studies are actually conducted within local business. #leadership #academia
Excited to see our research on the dual nature of leadership featured in the Trinidad Express! Leadership can simultaneously build and break organizations, and our study sheds light on these two forms—role-modelling leadership that promotes a positive work culture and destructive leadership practices that can be a double-edged sword. Thank you to Henry Bailey for encouraging us to share our research with the wider public. Kudos to Morana Beharry and Visha Dilraj, two of our brilliant undergraduate students, for crafting such a thoughtful and comprehensive article. This was no easy task, especially when stepping outside your discipline. I must also acknowledge my co-author Amanda T. Singh, whose collaboration on the role-modelling leadership study was invaluable. Special thanks also to Vicky Khadoo-Ramsingh for her incredible support in coordinating with the media to make this happen. Let’s continue exploring how leadership can better serve organizations and communities by adopting a balanced and flexible approach. #Leadership #Research #OrganizationalSuccess #UWI

You - yes, YOU - should apply! The applications for the 2025 class of the Presidential Leadership Scholars program are now open. 🗓️ I say this every year and inevitably some number of friends, colleagues, and/or collaborators privately reach out to ask "Do you really think *I* should apply?" My answer is almost always an enthusiastic "YES!" If you're a service-minded leader (in any sector) then the Presidential Leadership Schools Program is among the best programs you'll find. A joint initiative of four former U.S. Presidents, PLS assembles a diverse cohort of high-potential leaders from all sectors to develop their leadership skills. Successful scholars are civically minded, open to feedback, accepting of diverse perspectives, and committed to meaningful change. 💡🌐 We need these leaders now more than ever! The 6-month program is an incredible opportunity to grow as a leader and make an impact. 💪💫🌍 If you have 10+ years of meaningful professional experience, a demonstrated record of leadership and influence, and a commitment to the program, I encourage you to apply by the July 14, 2024 deadline. Learn more about the program, qualifications, and application process on the Presidential Leadership Scholars website linked below. I'm proud to have helped develop PLS when I was at the Clinton Foundation, to be involved in the finalist review process each year (with some of the nicest folks ever at the George W. Bush Presidential Center), and I can't wait to see the next class of inspiring scholars. 👏 #PLScholars #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #ImpactBeyondBelief #SocialImpact

Nurturing Tomorrow's Leaders Today. There's a misconception that leadership is a virtue reserved for those born with a silver spoon. However, we strive to redefine this notion. At Chirayu, we create space for future leaders. In the vibrant ecosystem of our university campus, leaders play crucial roles. Our university is fertile ground for cultivating leadership. We believe everyone must nurture leadership qualities to excel in every phase of their lives. By actively engaging in university life, students can lay a strong foundation for a successful leadership journey. #universityLife #PersonalDevelopment

Being an effective leader requires more than just being in a leadership position. At our final “Identity and Leadership Program” workshop, hosted by Rutgers University Equity and Inclusion, we discussed the research on attributes people want in their leaders. The data is clear that attributes fostering inclusivity are key. However, the incentives, pressures, and norms of academia often underprioritize these and focus mainly on task competency, experience, and micropolitical connections when selecting leaders. Excited to get to a place where the former and latter are both important at productive organizations. Rutgers University Diversity #leadership #academia
