In an era of rapid digitisation, collaboration has never been more critical. Recently, Beltug (𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺), Cigref (𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲), VOICE - Bundesverband der IT-Anwender e.V. (𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆), and CIO Platform Nederland (𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀) — four leading European CIO associations — came together to shape the future of digital policy in Europe. Their shared vision is captured in a manifesto presented to the new European Commission.
🌟 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?
As Danielle Jacobs, CEO of Beltug, highlights, 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗨 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. This makes international cooperation essential to ensure that regulations meet the needs of businesses across Europe.
Ronald Verbeek, General Manager of CIO Platform Nederland, underscores the strength of this collaboration: these four nations are 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, offering valuable insights to the European Commission. This ensures that policies crafted at the EU level can foster innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness for companies and business users alike.
Aymeric Bourdin, Head of European Affairs at Cigref, points out that the alliance sharpens their collective positions, as seen in their 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼, which outlines a shared vision for Europe’s digital future.
Bettina Uhlich, President of VOICE, emphasises the importance of 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 in creating a fair digital market. By sharing experiences and expertise, these associations not only amplify their voice but also build trust and unity in addressing common challenges.

These associations represent 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗖𝗜𝗢𝘀) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 across Europe’s private and public sectors. Importantly, they advocate for the 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀, not ICT suppliers or consultants.
