🔹 The final panel of our workshop brought a broader perspective on how O-CEI Horizon-related technologies are driving innovation in #decentralised identity, #datasovereignty, and #cloud-#edge #computing. Discussions highlighted how these enabling solutions can bridge gaps between industry initiatives, emerging architectures, and regulatory frameworks. 🌐 Nicolae-Madalin Neag from OpenNebula Systems explored the synergies between #IPCEI-CIS and the #Virt8ra architecture, emphasising the need for scalable, sovereign cloud solutions. 🌱 Anhelina Kovach from IKERLAN showcased how Gaia-X Association for Data and Cloud (AISBL) and #IDSA are integrating with #Tangle, demonstrating a trusted data-sharing ecosystem. 💻 Mario Petruzzella Malagón from Arsys discussed the role of #VerifiableCredentials, particularly in the COP-PILOT Horizon initiative, and how they enable secure, decentralised identity management. 💡Lastly, Georgios Stavropoulos from Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) closed the session by outlining O-CEI’s approach and the next steps needed to drive adoption and standardisation. 🤝 Collaboration and interoperability will be key in turning these technologies into real-world solutions. Looking ahead, aligning technical progress with policy frameworks will be essential to unlocking the full potential of decentralised identity and cloud-edge innovation.

🔹 The second panel of our workshop followed a discussion on the key challenges and trends in decentralised identity (#DID), data sovereignty, and #DLT across the energy and industrial sectors. 🔐 Oscar Lazaro set the stage by emphasising the urgent need for secure, interoperable, and scalable solutions as energy systems integrate Cloud, Edge, and IoT technologies. Max Helmig from Siemens AG highlighted how trust frameworks, privacy-preserving mechanisms, and standardisation are shaping Industry 4.0. 🔋Mathieu Schumann (EDF), Matthias Bölke (SCHNEIDER) and Bernhard Peischl (AVL) discussed further about the importance of #energy and, more specifically, they explored #decentralised energy management can enhance grid stability and consumer empowerment, the role of data spaces in securing industrial data exchange, and the need for tamper-proof digital identities in renewable energy communities and #EV battery passports. 💡It’s clear that decentralised identity and data sovereignty aren’t just technical challenges but they’re fundamental to the future of energy. Bridging the gap between #regulation, industry adoption, and technological innovation will be key to unlocking their full potential. Stay tuned for more insights 🌐

The first panel at our workshop was about #decentralisedidentity (DID) in distributed #energy resources (#DERs), a crucial topic as energy systems move toward greater decentralisation. 📈 A key point highlighted was the tension between privacy and decentralisation. As Prof. Carlos E. Palau Salvador pointed out, while decentralisation enhances control and sovereignty over data, ensuring privacy and compliance in such open ecosystems remains complex. 🔐 Prof. Jens Strüker emphasised the need for a "digital spine", arguing that #Web3 technologies could be the missing link in unlocking DER flexibility, offering trusted interactions between energy assets and markets. 🛂 Meanwhile, José Manuel Cantera Fonseca explored the role of IOTA’s Tangle in digital identity and product #passports, showing how scalability and feeless transactions could be game-changers in real-world adoption. 🌱 Finally, Jan Peters raised an important point about accountability in energy flexibility, as markets evolve, ensuring transparency and trust in energy transactions will be critical.
