This past week Haugland Group LLC proudly published an advertorial in Newsday on May 26, 2024, which you can view here: https://lnkd.in/e-Eszn8E. This piece was written to showcase the ongoing progress across Long Island, enhancing our economic, environmental, and energy future. It emphasizes the successful construction and launch of the South Fork Wind project, highlighting its profound impact on communities across Long Island. The successful realization of the South Fork Wind project, along with other vital initiatives across the region, has been made possible through the collective commitment of our local communities, our diligent union workforce, along with vital support from New York State agencies such as NYSERDA and the NY Public Service Commission. Additionally, the forward-thinking leadership from private sector partners like Ørsted and Eversource Energy has been instrumental. The feature in Newsday, complement insights from other articles published by Haugland Group LLC as referenced here: https://lnkd.in/e4kqnUAj and here: https://lnkd.in/ec6rq4Px. They underscore not only the progress on key projects but also the significance of nurturing a critically skilled workforce essential for sustaining this positive momentum. Construction has begun on Port of Aberdeen’s £4m shore power project, aimed at providing clean electricity to vessels docked at seven berths. Eliott Higgins, Associate, Buro Happold, said “It’s fantastic to see the construction of this project commence, having been involved since 2021. We supported the Port of Aberdeen with an initial decarbonisation study, followed by business case development and design development for contractor procurement. The installation of shore power at Albert and Mearns Quay is expected to reduce the port area’s carbon emissions by more than 80% by reducing marine gas oil consumption, supporting the port’s ambition to be the UK’s first net zero port by 2040.” Our collaboration with Connected Places Catapult, DOF Subsea, Tidewater, OSM Thome, Energy Systems Catapult, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, and PowerCon demonstrates the power of public and private partnerships in driving green infrastructure forward. Together, we are evaluating both land-side and vessel-side power infrastructure, and conducting a commercial analysis to assess the financial and socio-economic benefits for the port and its stakeholders. This project is a crucial step towards Port of Aberdeen’s goal of becoming the UK’s first net zero port by 2040.
