Today I took some time to listen to Mark Butler - MGT MAB MPACFA(Clin)🇮🇪 🇦🇺 unpack Burnout on the Reset Podcast with Luke Mathers. What a gift this 40 minutes was! We hear burnout being referenced so often and it is not to be underestimated. But what if it is not burnout? What if how we are feeling is linked to guilt, shame or even survivor guilt? Mark has this incredible way of educating through storytelling. Of course, his advice is aligned with his practice (clinical psychology) so you will come away feeling better equipped. Here are some of my takeaways: - we are all human ✅ - we approach a flickering candle different to a fully extinguished one - how we respond is important 🕯 - play the ball, not the player (simple but so real) 🏉 - burnout versus bore-out 💡 - think of what is renting space in your head - was it invited? (Wow - that was for me!). 🤔 - belonging versus fitting in 🏠 This is an incredibly evidence-based conversation that will leave you a little bit richer. Have a listen. #behealthy #besafe #bewell #bekind

So many of us feel "burned out." We're exhausted by the chronic stress, monotony, toxic workplaces, unhealthy integration of work and home with limited opportunities for true rest and renewal, and more. I know I felt that way in 2015. But I honestly had no idea what burn out truly was, or at least how bad it could get, until I interviewed Caroline Hughes. I was speechless listening to her story. This conversation is one of the most popular on my podcast and has come up in discussion lately because burn out continues to be an issue people are struggling with. If you're feeling burned out, this is a must listen. You can learn to catch the signs before things get worse. #burnout #worklifebalance #youmatter

As a therapist, it's essential to prioritize your wellbeing, not just for yourself, but for your clients. They deserve to work with someone who's functioning at their best, rather than a counselor who is burned out, drained, or suffering from compassion fatigue. But this industry doesn't always make it easy. Aside from the emotionally intense nature of the work itself, many therapists find themselves in environments where burnout is all but inevitable. If you want to learn how to avoid or recover from burnout, and prioritize self-care as a therapist, I have a new podcast episode for you. Comment "burnout" and I'll send you a link. xoxo, Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby #TherapistLife #CounselorLife #TherapistBurnout #JobBurnout

Empathy or compassion: Which one is the leading winner? How do you lead with compassion and make an impact? What about empathy fatigue, which can lead to burnout and overwhelm? And what’s the difference between empathy and compassion anyway? Today, on the Sow to Speak podcast, we’re wrapping up our special Mental Health Awareness Month series with a deep dive into empathy and compassion in leadership. Here’s the lowdown: EMPATHY VS COMPASSION: I break it down simply. Empathy is feeling someone’s emotions, while compassion is taking action to help them. It’s like feeling someone’s pain and then actually helping them up after they’ve tripped. WHY IT MATTERS: We explore why empathy and compassion are game-changers in the workplace. Hint: they boost morale, prevent burnout, and lead to better decision-making. POWER DUO: I share how empathy can help us understand others’ struggles, but compassion drives us to take action while still maintaining performance standards. RESEARCH BACKED: I share insights from a Stanford study showing that compassionate leadership leads to happier employees and increased loyalty. PRACTICAL TIPS: I dish out three simple ways to lead with compassion: active listening, supportive feedback, and taking action. Available wherever you listen to podcasts or keep it easy, like Sunday morning, and find it at the 🔗 in my bio. Being in such a results-driven world, how do you remember to lead with compassion and what changes when you do? #emotionalintelligence #compassion #empathy #consciousleadership #sowtospeak
