A further step to a European Lithium ion battery value chain.
Our wholly owned subsidiary, AMG #Lithium B.V., is pleased to announce a capital investment of GBP 16 million (approximately USD 20 million) in Savannah Resources PLC. Savannah is the developer of the Barroso Lithium Project in #Portugal, Europe’s largest spodumene lithium deposit. AMG’s capital investment yields a 15.77% ownership stake, making AMG the largest shareholder of record. The terms of the agreement include a seat on Savannah’s Board of Directors, a 5-year offtake of the #Project at 45ktpa of spodumene (or 225,000 DMT in the aggregate), with the opportunity to increase the offtake to 90ktpa of spodumene and extend to 10 years (900,000 DMT in the aggregate) by providing Savannah with an acceptable “full project financing solution” for the Project’s development. Both parties agreed also to cooperate in evaluating expanding into Lithium downstream activities in Portugal and #Spain. Through this agreement, Savannah and #AMG will be contributing towards the domestic extraction and processing targets for lithium raw material set forth in the 2023 European Critical Raw Materials Act. In the third quarter of 2023, the #EBITDA margin of German #polysilicon manufacturer WACKER was already very close to that of Chinese low-cost producer DAQO New Energy. Now it is close again and will likely not stop there. Since the polysilicon #price in #China has fallen even below Daqo’s cash #costs and Wacker is not fully exposed to the record-low price in China, the German manufacturer could soon outstrip the margin of its Chinese competitor – as OCI Malaysia did one year ago. Our latest analysis of the first-quarter results explains why the fourth quarter was only an outlier in this trend. It also analyzes the results of OCI Malaysia (OCIM SDN BHD) and REC Silicon. 🌟 We’re delighted to announce the completion of a comprehensive technology review of the two pathways under consideration for the Speewah Vanadium Titanomagnetite Project in Western Australia. Our findings highlight the promising results from both the innovative TIVAN+ processing technology, developed in partnership with CSIRO, and conventional salt roast technology. Notably, both methods have shown excellent bench-scale performance for processing Speewah concentrate. Key updates include: 📌 Ongoing salt roast testwork aimed at producing vanadium electrolyte specification for Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries. 📌 A preliminary assessment of third-party interest in commercialising the TIVAN+ technology. 📌 Advancements in negotiations with government for a facilitation and funding agreement to develop a TIVAN+ Pilot Plant.
