Six years ago, when we first envisioned the creation of the Futsa Group of Companies, none of us could have anticipated the journey we would embark on. We had a clear vision, a plan, and an unshakeable belief in our potential. But even then, we didn't realize how long it would take to reach the level of success we are experiencing today. At the time, we were driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to bringing a fresh perspective to the industries we were entering. The challenges were many—limited resources, market competition, and the inherent risks of starting something from scratch. There were countless sleepless nights, hard decisions, and moments when we questioned whether we were on the right path. But in those tough moments, we always found a reason to push forward—whether it was the belief in our team, our clients, or the bigger vision we had set out to achieve. Looking back, it’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come. Every obstacle we faced became a stepping stone, every failure turned into a lesson, and every small victory fueled our determination. We’re proud of the progress we've made, but we know that this is just the beginning. The journey of building Futsa Group of Companies has taught us invaluable lessons about resilience, teamwork, and the power of persistence. Today, as we stand at a much higher level than we ever expected, we reflect with gratitude on how far we've come. But we are also aware that our journey is ongoing. The future holds even greater opportunities, and we are more determined than ever to continue striving for excellence and growth. The journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. How often do we pause to ask ourselves, "What has Life taught me so far?" Upon hearing this question, have you spiraled into guilt-tripping yourself with excuses, convinced that your life hasn't been long enough for substantial lessons? Or perhaps, you've felt overwhelmed by the chaos of daily life, too busy to reflect… I'll be honest; on most days, I shield myself with these excuses! But at the International Kindness Festival, while representing Project FUEL and sharing our ethos of learning from each other and viewing the world as our collective classroom, many answers to the question above were shared by people; life lessons being showered on me like glitter! People's contributions to our repository glimmered with immense hope, proving that we all have a lesson to share. We just need to pause, reflect, and let the lesson shine through us. ✨ From an 11-year-old's insight to a 50-year-old's reminder —everyone had a life lesson to uncover. Watching people of all ages reflect on their lives, pausing to appreciate their experiences, challenges, and lessons they've encountered, was truly inspiring to witness! It showed that life is indeed fulfilling and offers valuable wisdom to be shared! This experience was a clear example that we a life lesson embedded at every stage of our lives, and we can try not to keep it just for ourselves, but pass it further so that it can be channeled something beautiful for someone else! 💫 From London to Iceland: A reflection of Geko's 4 year Journey 💫 On the 29th February, Geko celebrated 4 years since we launched, and we hosted a celebration at Kjarval to mark the occasion. Thank you to everyone who joined us! (photos in the post below) 🥂 In 2016, I moved from London to Iceland with nearly two decades of HR, recruitment and people strategy experience. Like many foreign experts moving to a new country, I was met with challenges in securing a position that matched my expertise. This journey led me to a small tech recruitment agency where on my first day I was shown my desk, no phone, no computer… it felt like I was starting my career all over again... but I dove into the deep end, using it was an opportunity to understand Icelandic working culture and build my personal brand in Iceland. Despite the professional growth, there was a misalignment with my core values and I started to wonder where my career might take me if I found the courage to quit. Then in March 2019 a went through a traumatic experience, when I was assaulted by a stranger. 9 months after this happened, I decided to reevaluate my direction and found the courage to quit the job I was in. I needed to take back some control and ensure that I had time for my journey of navigating the Icelandic justice system, which took many years, and resulted in the perpetrator being sentenced and jailed in 2022. This difficult period, navigating the complexities of the Icelandic justice system, ultimately inspired the creation of Geko, which we launched on the leap year day of 29th February 2020. Geko was not just a business venture; it became a sanctuary for healing, growth, and empowerment amidst the personal challenges I was facing. Launching amidst personal trials and the global upheaval of COVID-19, Geko's story began. The first week after launch we went into the global pandemic, meaning that I had to change the business practices early on. But as I often say, with challenges comes opportunities, and this was one of them! Since our inception, we've partnered with over 100 companies, helping nearly 500 individuals find inspiring careers and shared our knowledge through various workshops and education programmes. In the short (and emotional) speech I made at the party we hosted to mark our 4 year anniversary, I spoke about the importance of surrounding yourself with good people, none of this would be possible if I didn't have amazing people on this journey with me. Thank you! ❤️ Reflecting on the past years, from my initial move to the growth of Geko, fills me with immense pride and gratitude. The journey has been a blend of professional milestones and personal recovery, underscored by the incredible support of those around me. Thank you to every person who has been a part of this journey. Hello, everyone. It's Kazuyoshi Hisano here. I’m excited to share that I’ve recently started working with a large and respected Japanese publisher, Nikkei BP. This company has a long history of publishing insightful magazines and books that have provided valuable knowledge to business leaders in Japan for many years. I had the opportunity to publish my book with them back in 2020, and I'm thrilled to be collaborating with them again. We’re now working on an exciting new project—a study tour to Japan. Japanese manufacturers are renowned for their high productivity and innovative approaches, such as the Toyota Way and lean manufacturing. Many people around the world are eager to learn from these methods. Nikkei BP, with its deep connections to large companies in Japan, is perfectly positioned to facilitate these learning opportunities. The idea is to organize study tours, ranging from four days to a week, where participants can visit leading Japanese companies. These tours might include visits to factories, headquarters, and the chance to exchange information and even explore potential business opportunities. I’m working closely with Nikkei BP to bring this concept to life, and we’re aiming to create something that benefits everyone involved. While there will be some costs associated with participating, the value of the experience could be significant—whether you’re sending executives, rewarding top performers, or simply seeking to learn and grow. This isn’t a rigid, one-size-fits-all product. We’re flexible and open to tailoring the experience to meet the specific needs and interests of the participants. Our goal is to open doors to Japan’s successful large companies and create meaningful connections. The reason I’m passionate about this project is that I love connecting people and exploring new and interesting opportunities. I’m sure the sentiment of having to do more with less resonates with colleagues throughout HE, so my thought for today is: When you can’t do a lot do what you can. As someone heading up a team in an organisation as complex as Universities are you sometimes can’t give positive answers to the questions you’re being asked. But what you can do is make time to review the way you and your teams are doing things to see if there are any changes you can implement to make tasks and processes a little more bearable. You can make time to listen to the team even if you don’t have the answers they are searching for. And most importantly you can always find time to say thank you. Not just to your team but making sure colleagues outside of the team who are supporting them receive thanks for what they do. Because we’re all in the same big HE boat together.

Reflecting on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and lessons that have shaped me. 🌟 Lessons Learned: Resilience: Life is full of challenges, but each obstacle is an opportunity to grow stronger. I've learned that resilience isn't about never falling, but about always getting back up. Continuous Learning: Whether through my studies in law, my recent internship at Aura & Co under the guidance of Adv. Shiv Mangal Sharma sir, or my passion for writing, I've realized the importance of being a lifelong learner. Every experience, every interaction is a chance to gain knowledge and perspective. Passion and Purpose: Writing my article 'The Psychology of Storytelling: Influencing Consumer Behaviour' for Laconic Magazine was a defining moment. It taught me the power of storytelling and the impact of pursuing one's passion with dedication. Valuing True Friendship: One of the most profound lessons I've learned is that having one special and loyal friend is worth more than having many selfish ones. True friendship brings support, trust, and genuine connection, which are invaluable. Community and Support: None of this would have been possible without the support of mentors, family, and friends. Surrounding myself with positive, inspiring individuals has been crucial in my journey. Self-Belief: The most important lesson is to believe in oneself. Confidence and self-belief are the foundations upon which we build our dreams. As I step into this new chapter, I am excited for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. In the aspect of learning, I have something to say about generations and learning. Whether you are a Gen Z or not, I feel we can always learn from any generation, whether previous generations or the upcoming generation. Every generation has its own lessons. Let's learn from the errors, and if possible, provide solutions to those errors and try applying them to your present generation. I remember discussing with a genuine old man who told me about the history of education when it comes to calculation. Applying such calculations to some Gen Z means of learning can make calculations easier for them. I know Gen Z prioritizes education and is often motivated to learn new skills, both through formal education and online resources, which is a very good lifestyle. However, it is paramount we know that no generation should be condemned. Every generation has its value, and value does not perish. We should cherish values. On a final note, we shouldn't compete; let’s be inspired to learn to grow, let’s be inspired to be transformed, for the complement of each generation. I am Penner Paul Adedoyin
