Join us on an inspiring journey towards a circular future in food packaging with Aron Damen, our Managing Director for Cirrec at Faerch.🌀 In the exclusive video below, Aron takes us behind the scenes at Cirrec, Faerch's integrated recycling plant, where plastic waste is transformed into raw materials for new rigid food packaging. Aron shares, "Every year, 106 billion pieces of rigid food packaging are used just once and discarded, piling up in landfills, incinerated, or worst-case ending up in our nature. At Faerch, we cannot accept this, and we are taking a clear stance to address this issue". Explore how Faerch's innovative recycling process not only increases recycling rates but also reduces post-consumer waste and the use of virgin materials, setting new standards for the industry. Aron emphasises, "Our goal is clear, more responsible resource use, where food packaging has a circular life." Watch the video now to witness how Faerch is pioneering the move towards circular food packaging, and join us in our call for industry collaboration to transform the value chain.📽♻ #CircularEconomy #ResourcefulPackaging #Faerch #CircularFuture

At KIVO Flexible Plastics, we are proud to support Bonduelle's mission for a more sustainable future. Together, we have transitioned from a complex multi-laminate structure to an innovative, recyclable mono-PE packaging for their frozen food products in France, Iberia, and Eastern Europe. This collaboration not only reduces packaging weight by up to 25% but also ensures full recyclability, in line with Bonduelle's 2025 goal of having 100% of its packaging designed to be recyclable or reusable. A big thank you to our dedicated team and partners for making this possible. Discover more about our joint efforts towards sustainability in the press release below. In my conversations with customers, I notice 👇 The implementation of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which is due to come into force in 2025, is on most people's minds. Among other things, three goals are to be achieved: 🚯 The avoidance of packaging waste. ♻️ The use of recyclable packaging. 🔄 The promotion of the circular economy. According to the Umweltbundesamt, over 200 kg of packaging waste is generated per capita in Germany every year. 😱 The amount of packaging waste per capita should fall across Europe, by at least 15% by 2040 compared to 2018. Of course, it is in everyone's interest to minimize the negative impact of packaging on the environment. However, it is a balancing act - as we reported on FACHPACK360° - to make this economically viable and technically sensible in terms of protecting the packaged goods. 👉 Environmentally friendly packaging has long been at the top of the agenda in the packaging industry - and has been a key theme at #FACHPACK for years. In September, 1,400 exhibitors will once again present their solutions, innovations and best practices on the topic of sustainability. 💡 Packaging companies will receive answers and assistance on how they can meet the new legal requirements. Product packaging and its labeling may need to be revised and the packaging technology updated. Information and discussion about the #PPWR will be provided in the program of the PACKBOX Expert Forum, especially on the first and second day of the trade fair on the topics Market&Consumption and Europe&Circular Economy. I cordially invite you to join us! What are your thoughts on the topic? 💬

What a fascinating day - talking with packaging people and understanding the huge opportunities for reusable and refillable systems at the Reuse and Refill Fair (Salon du Vrac, dahling) in Paris. Many viable alternatives to single-use packaging are itching to get on the market. To be a success, it will need all of us everywhere to take part - from shoppers and eaters to retailers, food manufacturers, distributors, packaging producers, used packaging collectors, cleaners, digital technology providers, local authorities, governments and more. This is a huge systematic change in how we consume and dispose of packaging, affecting primary, secondary and transport packaging. 👉🏼 Things will go fast in the next 5 years with regulations and innovations scaling up. Keep tuned! 👉🏼 Look here for packaging suppliers and organizations who are shaking things up: https://lnkd.in/eaAy5Syg #sustainability #esg #circularity #packaging

In our prior episode of ‘Packaging Slices,’ we discovered how Coffee mate is joining brands like Maggi bouillon cubes, Smarties, and Quality Street in converting to paper packaging. In today’s episode, check out how your Milo bottle is actually made from other bottles! These efforts all contribute to our ambitious vision: a world in which none of Nestlé’s #packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfill or as litter. Currently, virgin plastic in our packaging has reduced by nearly 15%. Our goal is to reduce our use of virgin plastics by one third by 2025. ♻️ Our experts, Olivia Schläpfer & Gerhard Niederreiter, are here to explain what’s behind recycled PET ♻️ Stay tuned for the final episode of ‘Packaging Slices’ with more packaging innovation must-knows, and catch up on what you’ve missed: https://lnkd.in/gTnZasjJ. #PackagingInnovations #Sustainability
