The final phase of upgrades to the iconic Wadjemup / Rottnest Island Main Jetty has been completed. This vital project is a part of the State Government’s $26.8 million investment to upgrade and improve essential maritime infrastructure and delivers on a key initiative of the Rottnest Island Management Plan 2023-28. The Main Jetty completion will extend the operational life of the jetty and enhance the visitor experience by providing a more streamlined and efficient arrival and departure experience for all visitors to the island. We’ve offsetted 1,343 tonnes of CO2 by supporting the Gold Standard VER East Africa Borehole project, which provides clean drinking water to people in impoverished parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. Our investment allows the Borehole project to significantly improve its energy efficiency to the value of 1,343 tonnes of carbon. As such, we’ve also been presented with a Carbon Neutrality Certificate from the Carbon Neutral Organisation, which you can view on our website. All in all, we believe that we – and the array of stunning, sustainable natural slate and phyllite products we provide – can make a significant contribution to the country’s quest to cut its carbon emissions.
