Does a one on one meeting need agenda? Great question! Participants do value their 1:1s more when they have an agenda but there's a twist! The highest valued meetings are those where the direct sets the agenda or the agenda is co-created between the manager and direct. When the manager creates the agenda alone, perceived value slips. In our Management Training programs we include a 1:1 coaching session with every class. In the first 1:1 we co-create the agenda and from there on out, it's over to the participant.
