Have you listened to my latest bonus episode that dropped yesterday? You’ve most likely seen the news surrounding #Cassie and #Diddy. Recently, a video came out showing Diddy physically abusing her for the world to see. It’s a heartbreaking story, but also an important reminder of the serious issue of domestic violence. Here are a few key takeaways from this episode: ❤️🩹Domestic Violence Can Happen to Anyone: No matter how glamorous someone’s life looks from the outside, abuse can still be a part of their reality. ❤️🩹The Importance of Speaking Out: By sharing her story, it’s a powerful reminder that speaking out can help break the cycle and encourage others to seek help. ❤️🩹Finding Purpose Through Pain: You may not realize that the darkest things you go through can create your destiny and purpose in life. ❤️🩹Support Systems Matter: Having a strong support system is vital for anyone suffering from abuse. ❤️🩹Believe Victims the First Time: It’s crucial to believe victims the first time they speak out and to stop victim blaming. 🎙️ New Podcast Episode Alert! 🎙️ In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I had an impactful conversation with Melissa Prentice from Bay Area Turning Point, Inc. on the MAMI on a Mission Podcast. We discussed a critical issue—how individuals and communities can better support survivors and help prevent domestic violence. Melissa shared key insights, particularly emphasizing the importance of not putting limits on your support for someone experiencing abuse. She highlighted a sobering truth: urging someone to leave an abusive situation without the proper support or planning can be incredibly dangerous. In fact, statistics from the Texas Council on Family Violence's latest report show that 52% of intimate partner homicides in 2023 occurred after the survivor had taken steps to leave. Melissa underscored the value of empathy and understanding the complexities behind why someone may stay. Instead of pushing for immediate action, the most powerful thing we can do is connect survivors with professional organizations like Bay Area Turning Point, where they can receive safety planning and the resources needed to navigate their way out safely. Listen to the full episode and learn how we can make a difference in the fight against domestic violence. Together, we can offer survivors the support they truly need. 💜 Listen on https://lnkd.in/geNFg_bC #DomesticViolenceAwareness #SupportSurvivors #MAMIonaMission #Empathy #SafetyPlanning #EndAbuse #CommunitySupport

Have you listened to this week’s episode yet featuring Nilzara Rivera? This portion of the conversation is SO important for anyone who has or is contemplating leaving a toxic and abusive relationship. There are 2 things that helped me truly heal from my past relationship that became extremely abusive, toxic and nearly ended my life: ☝🏼Leaning on my support system. I spoke up and told people what was going on. When I felt like I couldn’t go on, they were able to step in and guide me through some really rough points in my life after leaving. ✌🏼HAVING ZERO CONTACT WITH MY EX. It was 100% a blessing that he ended up going to jail so there was no way he could contact me. To also protect my own peace, I changed my phone number so no one he knew could also contact me. It’s not easy to leave an abusive and toxic situation, y’all. I’m not gonna sit here and paint a picture that my life was filled with 🌈 and 🦋 and 🧘🏻♀️because I would be lying to you. But know that you CAN get through it. Myself and Nilzara are always here willing to guide and support you on your own journey, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us! If we did it, we know you can, too💕 Stream the full episode now by visiting the link below👇🏼 wutpodcast.com/podcast 👈🏼 • • • #toxicrelationships #toxicrelationship #toxicrelationshipsurvivor #relationshipredflags #redflags #redflags🚩 #relationshipadvice #adviceforwomen #personaldevelopment #personaldevelopmentjourney #healingfromtrauma #abusesurvivors #domesticviolenceawareness #dvsurvivor #domesticviolencesurvivor #domesticviolence #healingjourney #healingjourneys #dvawareness

🔥🎧New Podcast! In this episode, Karen DeArmond Gardner shares her powerful story of surviving thirty years of domestic abuse and the deep shame that kept her silent. She discusses the healing after abuse that brought her out of darkness and how God transformed her pain into sacred scars. Her testimony offers hope and encouragement to anyone seeking restoration after experiencing trauma. Here are some topics we discussed: 👉 I didn’t know I could leave. People often asked, “Why did you stay?” Because I didn’t know I could leave and I was terrified of my husband who was in law enforcement, and I knew his capabilities. 👉 Instead of asking someone “why did you stay?” The better question is, “Why would he abuse his wife whom he supposedly loves?” Put it back on the one who caused the harm rather than the one who endured the harm. 👉 When I left, shame covered me like a scratchy wool blanket and people could see it. I couldn’t look anyone in the eye and I didn’t want to be seen. When I realized no one wanted to know my story of pain, I internalized the shame and I put on a mask. You would see the absolute ugliness if I let you in, so I didn’t show you my real self. 26 years in a Domestic Violence/Abuse Relationship and still there! Common comments and questions: - “What the f#%k is wrong with you?” - “It must be childhood trauma.” - “You are an idiot!” - “You have no self-worth.” - “You are asking for it.” - “Just leave.” All I have to say is: “If you are not living it, you will never understand it.” The complexity of a Domestic Violence/Abusive relationship is profound. Often, the survivor has been groomed over time. The abuse likely started small and then escalated to a state where the survivor is now isolated, has no friends or family, is financially dependent on the abuser, and has become accustomed to the dopamine rushes of being berated and accused, only to be quickly love-bombed and brought back in. Domestic Violence and Abuse is a topic that still makes people uncomfortable when discussed. The survivor often feels ashamed for allowing this to become their life, and those they confide in often have their own set of beliefs: 1. Judgement of the survivor. 2. Advising the survivor to “just pack up your stuff and leave” (if only it were that easy). 3. Pity for the survivor. As a survivor myself, I am making it my mission to share people’s stories in a non-judgmental space where humans feel loved and supported, and to remove the stigma from sharing. And of course, I am recording it because I believe sharing is healing—not just for ourselves, but for the collective. You can listen to Darcy’s story here: 26 years in a Domestic Violence/Abusive Relationship Remember: Be kind always. You are BRAVE. You are STRONG. You are so LOVED in my space.
