The Holiday Weekend As we are entering the Memorial Holiday weekend in the States, I would like to extend my thanks and encouragement to all my pharmacy colleagues who will be serving their patients and communities over this long weekend. There will likely be a few situations that you have to deal with which most people will not understand. I can recall one such weekend where on a Saturday morning when a patient called me who was visiting from out of town. Within about 3 sentences, her voice went from upbeat and chipper to all out tears as she admitted she came to town to visit family and left her medicine at home over 200 miles away. She knew only the most general things about her medicines. For example, she knew the ballpark name of her medications, but not the dose or frequency. (“I take something for blood pressure that starts with an ‘L’ and it may be 20/25mg?”) My next few hours were set as I was now on a safari to figure these things out. Once the situation was figured out, the patient expressed great gratitude. The thing is, far too few people know what a pharmacy is like on a weekend like this. Your boss likely doesn’t know and may not even want to know. But we know the adventures that await us on long holiday weekends. To that end, allow me to share my thanks to you and your team for serving over this holiday weekend. You make such a big difference in people’s lives. If you have any good stories over the weekend, my inbox is open. I would love to hear your stories and celebrate your service. #forpharmacy #forpharmacists #pharmacists #pharmacyleadership #leadwell #EveryoneDeservesToBeLedWell #KeepPharmacistsImproving

Here’s an update on virtual wards #HospitalatHome from a recent VW Convenzis Group conference we attended. Do get in touch if you wish to know more on how to scale safely across a large geographic region and create maximum impact.
In July, our Medical Director, Dr Reggie Sangha, participated in a panel discussion with Francesca Markland and Santosh Kumar at the NHS Virtual Wards North event in Manchester. Happy EMS Week! Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future. Half a century ago, a presidential proclamation called on the nation to support efforts to improve emergency medical care across the country. It also established the first national EMS Week, a tradition we proudly continue today. Much has changed since 1974, yet there is still much we can learn from those trailblazing professionals who helped EMS evolve into the sophisticated branch of medicine it is today. Their dedication, commitment and sacrifice inspire us to take bold steps of our own, to continue to seek out ways to better serve our patients and our communities. This year, we celebrate EMS Week by honoring our past—by taking a pause to recognize the contributions of each generation, the people who dreamed that we could save more lives and have less suffering, and then found ways to make it happen. EMS Week is never just about the past, however. It’s also about inspiring the EMS professionals just starting out and the young people who haven’t even discovered EMS yet. It’s about learning from the challenges and building on the successes of the last five decades. It’s about forging our future—a future in which the next generation has the tools they need to deliver compassionate care and alleviate suffering in communities everywhere.

With the General Election happening this Thursday, here are three key issues that we are campaigning on: ➡️ Access to care: secure the future of CF specialist care and address staffing recruitment and retention issues within CF teams, particularly around psychosocial provision. ➡️ Equity for all: access to free prescriptions for everyone with CF and an uplift in statutory sick pay. ➡️ Breathing greener: a commitment to improve air quality to help benefit those with lung conditions like CF, including introducing an early alert warning system. Read the full blog on our website and find out how you can make sure cystic fibrosis is high on the agenda for your local candidate. 🔗 https://ow.ly/A6Ei50St0IC

This....THIS is what drives me - giving San Antonio residents the chance to live longer, healthier lives by way of resources they wouldn't otherwise have access to! THIS is what the American Heart Association does 💓 🎭 Some stats to set the stage: ~30% of adults in San Antonio and the surrounding areas are estimated to have high blood pressure, a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Long-term, untreated high blood pressure can lead to severe complications, including heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease, and vision problems. High blood pressure is known as a "silent killer" due to its often asymptomatic nature, which can delay diagnosis and increase the risk of heart-related illnesses. 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 American Heart Association and YMCA San Antonio are teaming up to bring free blood pressure monitoring stations to 13 local YMCAs! These stations are designed to meet people where they are, empowering healthier lives and closing health gaps across our community. Made possible by Methodist Healthcare System, supported by the HCA Healthcare Foundation, this initiative ensures that everyone has easy access to life-saving tools. 🛠 Building a healthier San Antonio, one heart at a time! #AmericanHeartAssociationSA #YMCA #HeartHealth #BloodPressureAwareness #HealthySanAntonio This Great Day SA segment is sponsored by Methodist Healthcare. https://lnkd.in/gpE7pzMn

🤝 This morning, we brought together key political players and sector stakeholders around the table to discuss next steps for general practice ahead of the forthcoming 10 Year Health Plan. This was an opportunity to unpick the three “big shifts” outlined by the Government: from hospital into the community, sickness to prevention and analogue to digital, and what this could mean for general practice. Four things you need to know about the opening of the Arthur M. Blank Hospital!
Tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 29, we’ll make Georgia history when the doors to Arthur M. Blank Hospital officially open. Here are four things you need to know.👇 1) At 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, Arthur M. Blank Hospital will open, and the Egleston Hospital Emergency Department will close. Current clinical services at Egleston will move to Arthur M. Blank Hospital. 2) We’ll use 65 ambulances to move more than 300 patients to the new hospital—all in about 12 hours. 3) Please yield to ambulances near our hospitals on Move Day. They are transporting precious cargo. 4) As of 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, families should visit one of our three hospitals for emergency services: Arthur M. Blank Hospital, Hughes Spalding Hospital or Scottish Rite Hospital.
