If you want to land a job in Dubai, AD, or Riyadh… This post is a MUST read. Getting your next role in the UAE/KSA doesn’t need to be an impossible task. & people often become frustrated with the search. Here are 5 things that I wish everyone knew - 1: just because an ATS checker says your CV is 94%, it doesn’t mean it’s actually going to work. 2: adjusting your CV for every role is a huge waste of time, and will often work against you. 3: relocating to the UAE before you’ve landed a role is a bad idea, except in very niche situations. 4: having a one-foot-in, one-foot-out approach to the job search will lead to sub par results. 5: building momentum is critical, 1 week on followed by 1 week off will cause you to lose traction. If you’re searching for your next job in the region, keep these points in mind. Working with a recruitment consultant isn’t always ‘Please send me 3 CV’s that fit the job description we have provided’ and let me give you an example… I beat the drum about not having X CV’s queuing up at my door (sometimes) looking for opportunities and that’s because it’s not how all clients utilise our network A leader of a global organisation, a lady at the ‘top of her game’ called me yesterday She doesn’t have a whole heap of time on her hands, ever, and that's absolutely fine The conversation went like this: ‘Josh, I always seem to call you out of the blue, but I know that I can and you will know someone I need to speak with’ I need a Director for Saudi asap; and really they need to start within a month No problems, leave it with me for a few hours and I will rack my brain… 3 hours later, this lady had 3 names I had thought of that could be good for this role. *Each candidate had contacted me in the past year, asking me to let them know as soon as something great arises for them Quick reply – ‘Can I meet all three next week in Riyadh’? Yes, all set up for her within 1 afternoon and meetings set for next week. We’re there for clients who needs to utilise our network at speed when people simply don’t have the time The best talent isn't always applying to roles or reaching out to your company to apply, but they sit in our networks Next time you’re in a pickle, pick up the phone and call me, utilise our network to save you the time and effort, anything is possible… #networking #networks #hireatspeed
