𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 Having worked in three startups and one SME across different continents, I can totally relate to the challenges highlighted in this report! Oftentimes, there’s a clear need for interns, but the complexity of reaching out to universities, especially with limited time and resources, can make the process daunting. SMEs offer unique benefits for internships by giving students real-world experience and adaptability, but the bureaucratic barriers and resource constraints remain tough obstacles. Our report, "𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴, 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦: 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘔𝘌 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯", is based on insights from hundreds of global industry leaders and sheds light on the gap between educators' and employers' perspectives on graduate readiness. It’s encouraging to see VI leading meaningful work to address these challenges. If you’re keen to learn more, check out the report—it's packed with valuable insights on improving SME-university collaboration. 5 Internships 5 lessons! In my second year of college, I bagged 5 internships! Here are my key lessons from them: 1. It’s okay to leave if you feel you are not being valued or you do not have much to learn from an organisation. Blaming yourself and thinking I could not fit in is similar to buying wrong size clothes and wondering why is it too tight or loose. 2. It is important to make connections, network and create bonds that go beyond your tenure in the organisation. Keeping up with your ex-colleagues can be an excellent investment! 3. You will have a lot to learn no matter where you go, no matter how wise you think you are. It can range from learning a behaviour to learning an entire new programming language. Or even learning that a place is not for you. Keeping an open mindset is important. 4. You will realise there exists healthy competition but collaboration will always be more important. The world works because of collaboration and despite the competition. 5. You can write whatever you want in your resume, as long as you can justify it. These internships have given me more than a sneak peek into real life work experiences, these have shaped me. Each experience, whether challenging or rewarding, taught me valuable lessons about my worth, the importance of connections, and the power of collaboration. As I move forward, I carry these lessons with me, eager to embrace new opportunities and continue growing both professionally and personally. #internship #lessons #undergraduate #studentlife #DU #life #undergrad #computerscience

Recently, a Tier 1 college student turned down a Rs 10,000 internship offer, saying it was too low for someone for his background. Now, I get where he is coming from. On one hand, the intern is thinking about the market value of his skills and the investment he has made in his education. A Tier 1 college student might feel that his background should be compensated fairly, especially in competitive industries. Fair enough. On the other hand, as a founder, I know how tough it is to balance a startup’s budget. Sometimes, the stipends are low because we are working with limited resources. What we can offer instead is learning, mentorship, and the kind of experience that can shape someone's career. Well, the bigger question is: What do we prioritise early in our careers — learning and growth or financial compensation? There’s no right answer (it’s about priorities), but this conversation is an important one to have. What would you choose? Also, as a founder, do you think offering 10k for a Tier 1 college student was fair? #internship #career #startup

What is the problem we aim to solve? 🖇️A key challenge in higher education is integrating real world, cross disciplinary projects into the curriculum. Most institutions offer internships or project-based learning, but these are often isolated within departments and disconnected from industry needs 🏭. 🌱 Our solution is a flexible learning system where students work on multi disciplinary startup projects (created and run by them), and collaborate with industry experts. ✨This ensures they gain both theoretical knowledge and practical, entrepreneurial skills for the future job market.
