Exploring “Leaky Practices” at Dutch Design Week with ‘The Leaky Bodies Archives’ Yesterday at Dutch Design Week, our collective BLOB, in collaboration with the researchcentre WhatArtKnows, presented an artistic experiment titled ‘The Leaky Bodies Archives’. This project emerged from a desire to rethink how we perceive our bodies—not as isolated entities but as porous intersections between self and environment. In our society, there’s often an emphasis on maintaining boundaries: “know your limits” or “protect your space.” While boundaries are essential, we risk ignoring the subtle ways in which our bodies “leak” into their surroundings and vice versa. Through our project, we aimed to document these “leaky practices” and cultivate a deeper understanding and enhance articulation of how our bodies engage with the world around us. Visitors at our installations were invited to challenge their perceptions of physical boundaries. Interactive experiences like Leaky Savours explored the idea of taking in the external world through something as simple as drinking substances with known effects on the body—showing how everyday acts contribute to our constant exchange with our environment. This project has reminded us of the importance of embracing these subtleties and finding new, expansive ways to relate to ourselves and the world. In collaboration with WhatArtKnows, we’re continuing to explore and document these hidden interactions in an evolving archive. The design space is to design space.

Every aspect of this project was designed to enhance how the space: 1️⃣ 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 and 2️⃣ 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. From a re-engineered floor plan to precise lighting that eliminates shadows, and a custom ceiling design that defines each area naturally, we focused on making the space work seamlessly for day-to-day living. Working alongside architects and trusted partners, we brought in smart features like Lutron Electronics-controlled lighting, Denon audio-distribution, and thoughtful details that elevate usability without overwhelming the aesthetic. It’s these choices, often felt rather than seen, that shape the 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 AND the 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁. A big shout-out to One Hub Automation for their incredible dedication and care throughout this process! We're nearly wrapping up and will keep you posted! 🌿 Back from my digital detox! 🌟 Stepping away from screens has been a breath of fresh air, but now I’m ready to reconnect with all of you who’ve supported my journey and shared in life’s rollercoaster of experiences. This is my current sanctuary - my studio, and it’s my favorite one yet among the three I’ve had. 🫧 To me, a studio isn’t just a room; it’s a symbol that what we’re doing is important enough to have its own dedicated space. Over 12 years in this field, I’ve learned firsthand that the right workspace is CRUCIAL for fostering creativity and quality.
