Lighting joke! #44 It doesn’t matter how good your design is, if the end user doesn’t know basic logic, the results can be distortions, or hilarious! In this case, the end user (a high end watch brand) has positioned the display rotated the wrong way. The result is, the display lights are placed behind the watches and all the merchandise are in silhouette (left dark) 😂 The whole showcase must be rotated 180 degrees and the light should be coming from the perspectives of the customers not blinding them instead! Understanding viewing angles is key to the success of any design. Sometimes all it needs it basic common sense. Here's a glimpse into the lighting design of this residential facade we recently completed for a private customer in México. Each lighting application was meticulously planned to enhance the architectural features and create a dynamic visual impact. NEWTON With direct reference to the anecdote of the apple falling on Isaac Newton’s head, suggesting the existence of gravity, Newton’s metal diffuser rotates and enlightens the natural element in a mix of direct and diffused light. A high-performance LED source enhances the fruit’s colors. LA ROCHE The first wall lamp designed by Le Corbusier in 1925, originally thought to enlighten the large windows of Villa La Roche, a manifesto of purist architecture. Nemo edits La Roche enhancing its lightness and functionality: a matte metal frame and an opal glass diffuser for soft lighting. ON LINES A four-track base offers the possibility to freely install diffusers of different sizes and finishes, creating a unique, playful and infinitely personalised lamp every time. BIRD Bird is a unique project, a synthesis of constant ambition, design awareness and engineering. An object that rests – and balances – on the edge of any surface: the body oscillates and moves, but always returns to a horizontal position thanks to a vertical brass counterweight.
