I watched an insightful interview with Esdra Lamy, SVP Content Sales, IFE, Syndincationt at Warner Bros. Discovery, and it got me thinking about the exciting future of content in the inflight entertainment industry. 🎥✈️ The APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) Content Market in Lisbon showcased the incredible variety of content now available for inflight entertainment, from movies and TV shows to games, podcasts, and more. It's thrilling to see how far we've come and the endless possibilities for keeping passengers entertained and engaged during their flights. Esdra's perspective on the evolution of content and the Apex Content Market itself really highlights the importance of staying on the cutting edge in this fast-moving industry. ➡ The Apex Content Market has grown beyond just a TV market to encompass a full spectrum of content types. ➡ With 45 booths and 38 meeting slots, the event enables efficient networking and deal-making between content providers and airlines. ➡ Feedback from attendees is crucial for continually improving the event and ensuring it meets the needs of the industry. The inflight entertainment systems on today's aircraft are increasingly sophisticated, with high-resolution displays, touchscreens, and maybe in the future even virtual reality capabilities. As we integrate more advanced content like interactive games and immersive experiences, the hardware and software behind these systems will need to keep pace. Satellite connectivity is also key for enabling real-time streaming and social media integration. AI and machine learning can help personalize content recommendations for each passenger. It's an exciting time as we push the boundaries of what's possible in the inflight entertainment space. As we look to the future, I believe we'll see even more innovation in inflight entertainment content and technology. From live events streamed to passengers' personal devices to AR/VR experiences that transport them to far-off destinations, the sky is truly the limit. Stop It Before It’s Too Late! The End of 3sat After 40 Years? The German Reform Broadcasting Treaty Proposes the Closure of 3sat. As someone who has worked in both private and public broadcasting – including as Head of Corporate Communications for ProSiebenSat.1 and as a contributor to 3sat in the 90s – this topic is particularly close to my heart. 📺 For those unfamiliar, 3sat is a unique European TV channel, created as a collaboration between Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It has been a vital platform for promoting cultural exchange across borders, with a strong focus on arts, culture, and documentaries. My experience on the European stage has shown how important lighthouse projects like 3sat are in creating cultural understanding between nations. At a time when Europe is facing countless challenges to its values and democracy, it’s more crucial than ever to build bridges – and 3sat does exactly that in the heart of the continent. 🇪🇺 The idea of integrating 3sat into ARTE, a German/French corporation, might seem like a reasonable cost-saving measure at first glance, but this decision could have serious consequences and might delete to the slow death of the content the channel is known for. 3sat uniquely connects the three countries, offering a platform for cultural exchange that is otherwise rare. This is not the role of private broadcasters – it’s precisely what public broadcasting is meant to do. Programs like Kulturzeit are prime examples of this significant contribution. 🖼️ I urge the Broadcast Commission to reconsider this idea. 3sat is more than just a TV channel – it’s a cultural legacy that should not be abandoned so easily.
