Leaks and Water Damage: When pipes freeze and burst during the winter, they can leak in areas where asbestos insulation is present, increasing the risk of exposure to asbestos fibers. 2. Attic and Basement Concerns, Attics and basements are common locations for asbestos-containing insulation. Winter weather can worsen the potential for exposure if damage occurs in these areas.
