In 2017, I was asked to do an extensive literature review on behavioral parent-mediated interventions. I, of course, was skeptical as I had only ever implemented ABA in one model, paraprofessional-mediated. However, my skepticism turned into openness, my openness turned into practice, and my practice turned into belief! Parent-mediated interventions based in ABA are highly effective, and there is numerous research detailing this. Today, I wanted to share one of the first articles I read on this journey that changed my whole perspective on person-centered care! Happy reading 😀 https://lnkd.in/gKecUvvj
I like hearing about your transformation:) I think it was 2015 or 2016 when we met with Tracy and she told us (Square One) was "parent-led." The name was new to us, Tracy had recently heard it at a conference, but the concept was old hat, since 2007. We remained for many years the only agency in town working with parents rather than RBT's. It just made so much sense to us. It's so cool to see research that actually supports what (for us) started as a haired brained idea to make our jobs simpler and more enjoyable. Turns out, it was that way for our clients, parents and funders as well ❤️
This article feels like a lifetime ago. So glad it’s still relevant ❤️
