It was my first Global Fiber Conference Dornbirn-GFC. Very interesting event that gathered professionals of the industry to talk about challenges, innovations, collaboration, sustainable approach to business. I was representing interests of an Indian based vertically integrated business Chlorohemp Agrotech founded by Raghavendra Singh. #hemp is finally gaining its moment after half of a century of prohibition. It is a plant that has the potential to signifiy cut carbon footprint. And I’m not talking about only about textile industry. The potential of use and application is massive: textile, construction materials, protein, oils, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, energy source, etc. Hemp requires almost 5 times less water than cotton and it’s been used by humans for thousands of years. We often hear about 𝗘𝗖𝗢systems, but what about TÜV AUSTRIA Group's 𝗢𝗞-system ?   𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟯 - 𝗢𝗞 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗢𝗜𝗟   Biodegradability in the #soil offers major advantages for #agricultural and #horticultural products, as they can be left to biodegrade on site after use.   The #OKbiodegradable 𝗦𝗢𝗜𝗟 scheme guarantees that a product will be completely biodegraded in the #soil without any negative impact on the #environment. To verify this, low-temperature #biodegradation tests in the laboratory can last up to two years.   However, the certification scheme does not include #disintegration criteria, as this depends above all on the application (mulching film for lettuce or ground cover, etc.).   Here too, the biodegradation criteria we developed in 1995 have been adopted, including #EN17033 and #ISO23517 #standards for mulch film. Danish biotech dye maker Octarine Bio has partnered with US-based Ginkgo BioWorks, which identifies possible microbial strains. The two companies have announced that a first phase of their research has been finalised and should enable Octarine Bio to begin scaling its production. Octarine Bio’s low impact PurePalette dyes were featured at London Fashion Week last month in Patrick McDowell’s show collection. Octarine Bio’s Co-Founder and CSO, Nick Milne, commented: “We’re extremely proud to see our sustainable dyes transition out of the lab and into the ‘real world’, where the team at Ginkgo Bioworks played an important role in helping us achieve this significant and exciting milestone by delivering improved production strains ready for scale-up.
