Can one person have an impact on people? Yesterday I got the opportunity to talk to two different school classes - one with 13 year olds in the inner city and one with 15 year olds in the outskirts. Two extremely different classes, where neither had a clue what engineering was. At most a few knew that an engineer was probably a smart person who makes a lot of money. When one of the kids wrote ‘Lisa is an engineer’ to my question what an engineer is like, it really hit me. They haven’t met one before, of course their view of who is an engineer is going to be impacted by my presence. Perhaps neither of these kids will grow up to become engineers (although I saw mind blowing potential in a few of them!). But their first picture of an engineer will always be a young and outgoing female, all dressed in red. -:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:- 🙋♀️ I’m Lisa 🌟 Empowering tech leaders with insights on leadership, DEI, and strategy 💛 Supporting the next generation of engineers through Pepp 🥳 Celebrating failures I write about #entrepreneurship #leadership #dei #failure and #businessdevelopment Make sure to follow for more 🔔
