The Lisbon Energy Summit & Exhibition took place on 27-29 May 2024, gathering 2,000 attendees from the global energy value chain at a 3-day high-level conference sharing insights into transitioning the E.U.’s energy system to one based on renewables and in line with the REPowerEU initiatives. Some key takeaways from the Strategic, Hydrogen & Decarbonisation, and Climatetech conferences include: -Flexibility and pragmatism is needed by governments, regulators and industry -Hydrocarbons will still have a role to play as the energy mix increases -The political driver behind the transition is now less about net zero targets and more focused on energy independence and security Download the Post Show Report & Executive Summary for more outcomes from the Summit ---> https://bit.ly/LisbonPSR #LESummit #decarbonisation #hydrogen #renewables #climatetech

While there may be wider debate around the role of hydrogen in supporting decarbonisation, there's greater agreement on the importance of chemical energy storage - including hydrogen - in ensuring low-carbon flexibility for the power system over timescales longer than batteries and hydropower may typically be able to. But there are different potential approaches to creating business models for investment in, and operation of, hydrogen-to-power (H2P). We've hinted at some of these trade-offs in earlier webinars on flexibility and capacity mechanisms, join us on 24 September if you'd like to dive deeper into H2P!
Join us on September 24th, 2024, at 11:30AM BST for our #HydrogenToPower Webinar. Hydrogen-to-power (H2P) is expected to be a key electricity generation technology in the transition to #NetZero. 🌱 As gas-fired and coal-fired generation are phased out, and the share of generation from intermittent renewables continues to increase, a suite of flexible technologies will be needed to provide balance, both in terms of minute-to-minute flexibility as well as keeping the lights on in dunkelflaute events. 💡 These technologies will include short-term battery storage, long-duration energy storage (LDES) like pumped hydro, gas with carbon capture (gas CCS) as well as H2P, and different technologies will be needed for different purposes. ⚡ In this webinar, we will explore the advantages of using H2P technology, the challenges associated with it, and the support that will be needed in order for all flexible technologies to have an efficient role in the market, as well as outline recent work by Frontier for #DESNZ in the UK on policy options for H2P. Panellists will include: 🔷 Erik Zindel, VP Hydrogen & Decarbonization Strategy at Siemens Energy Global 🔷 Jonathan Baker-Brian, Head of Policy at SSE Renewables 🔷 Maximiliane Reger, Consultant at Frontier Economics 🔷 Alex Isard, Consultant at Frontier Economics We look forward to having you join us. ✨ 📌 Click here to register: https://lnkd.in/eaC7UBB2 #EnergyWebinar #EnergyTransition
