🛫 Little Scientists Head Trainer Ana recently travelled to Japan and connected with Professor Junko Ishizawa (Shirayuri University) and Associate Professor Rumi Haraguchi (Tokyo Gakugei University). Ana sat in on Associate Professor Rumi's STEM workshop at the Gakugei no Mori Nursery School, in which children explored a range of reflective objects. In the photos, you can see the children exploring symmetry with mirrors and a worksheet. This was a fantastic opportunity for Little Scientists to learn from colleagues in a very different context! Despite the geographical differences, there was a strong shared belief in the value of early STEM learning and the benefits of child-led and hands-on exploration. 💚 A big thank you to Professor Junko Ishizawa, Associate Professor Rumi Haraguchi, and the children and educators at the Gakugei no Mori Nursery School! #STEMEducation #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ECEC #EarlyLearning #EarlyLearningIdeas #TeacherProfessionalDevelopment

शिक्षा संस्कार और संस्कृति को सुरक्षित और उन्नत बनाने का माध्यम था! आज क्या है ? 💡 The Vedic and modern education systems have several key differences, reflecting the changes in societal values, technology, and pedagogical approaches over time. Vedic Education System: A) Gurukul-based: Students lived with their guru in an ashram, learning through direct, personal guidance¹. B) Oral Tradition: Knowledge was transmitted orally, with a focus on memorization and recitation. C) Holistic Approach: Emphasized spiritual, moral, and physical development alongside intellectual learning D) Customized Learning: Education was tailored to the individual's aptitude and interest, often linked to their family's occupation. E) Exclusivity : Formal education was primarily available to males from higher social classes Modern Education System: A) Institutionalized: Education takes place in schools and colleges, with a structured curriculum and standardized assessments B) Technology Integration: Utilizes digital tools like e-books, video lectures, and online resources for learning C) Diverse Subjects: Offers a wide range of subjects, continuously updated with new research and developments. D) Inclusivity: Accessible to all genders and social classes, promoting equal opportunity. E) Theoretical Emphasis: Often criticized for focusing more on theoretical knowledge than practical skills. While the Vedic system was deeply rooted in spiritual and philosophical teachings, aiming for self-realization and enlightenment, the modern system is more diverse and pragmatic, focusing on cognitive development, critical thinking, and career preparation. The shift from the Vedic to the modern system reflects the evolution of educational priorities in response to the changing needs of society. An important aspect of student well-being is represented by the connections they establish during their university life. Two-thirds of the students consider the connection with faculty members to be important or very important. As expected, the connection with other students is regarded as the most important by students. Friendships and peer support are essential factors sustaining academic adjustment. The survey carried out in the WISE project examined several dimensions of students' well-being and focused on the most critical factors. Here is another picture from the great conference I attened in Poland earlier this week. I would like to thank Uniwersytet Jana Długosza w Częstochowie for making it possible for me to take part in this event! Research might not generate immediate monetary income but international scholarships and cross-border collaborations are crucial for advancing knowledge and enriching pedagogy. When researchers engage globally, they bring diverse perspectives into classrooms, promote inclusive teaching, and foster innovative approaches to learning. This exchange of ideas strengthens academic institutions, empowers educators, and better prepares students for the complexities of the global workforce. Research drives educational excellence, fosters a culture of shared knowledge which in return, attracts more students! #GlobalEducation #InternationalCollaboration #AcademicExcellence #InclusivePedagogy #Research #ResearchIsValue #AcademicFreedom

Math Modeling of the World, taught by Dr. Cortez, is one of the very mesmerizing lectures offered by the Tulane Math department. Students engage in their projects, which are based on intuitive logic that turns into mathematical logic through classes. No profound prerequisites are required, but Calculus I. For instance, students build up their own mathematical model of reducing waste from Mardi Gras beads, an ongoing issue with no definite solution yet. Expecting students to be open-minded while building logical processes is the key to the course! Congratulations, Dr. Cortez!
🎓 Our graduates won't be the only Tulanians honored at the #Tulane2024 commencement celebrations in May. Four professors will receive teaching awards recognizing their commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Learn more about them here ⤵️

The Hype Machine of Early Academic Skills Education: The End of Childhood Five-Year-Olds Revolutionize Historiography: Kindergarteners Prep Doctoral Theses on Peloponnesian Wars In a groundbreaking move that has educators and historians buzzing, Sunny Days Kindergarten has announced its latest curriculum enhancement: AVID Phase 5 note-taking for in-depth analysis of the Peloponnesian Wars. Principal Ima Visionary beamed as she explained the initiative. "We've always known that five-year-olds have an untapped potential for understanding complex geopolitical conflicts of the 5th century BCE. It was just a matter of finding the right pedagogical approach." The program, dubbed "Toddlers to Thucydides," aims to have each kindergartener produce a doctoral-level thesis on various aspects of ancient Greek warfare by the end of the school year. "We're starting with the basics," said lead teacher Miss Pushdown. "Today, little Timmy used his Phase 5 notes to compare and contrast the strategic naval maneuvers of Athens and Sparta. His stick-figure drawings of triremes were particularly insightful. https://lnkd.in/gUTch_fX
