All too often systems focus on treating the smoke (resultant symptoms). It is well intended but often unless we treat the underlying issues (tend to the fire rather than the smoke) we don’t see lasting change. We need to treat the underlying traumas that are driving the need to binge, purge, use, drink, die etc. These underlying traumas left untreated often act like an amplifier on present day situations. They are running in the back ground taking up precious space and energy. One we clear these there is more space and energy to deal with the day to day situations and the clients window of tolerance begins expanding through the process. It is life changing! #ITATM

Ever felt completely drained or like you just “shut down” when faced with overwhelming stress? That’s your body’s Flop response, stepping in to help you conserve energy and retreat from perceived threats. Flop can feel heavy, disconnected, or even numb, but with the right tools, we can gently guide ourselves back to connection. Here’s a practice to try: 🧡 Reawaken with small movements. Wiggle your fingers and toes, or stretch lightly to signal safety to your nervous system. 🧡 Reconnect with your senses. Notice three things you can see, hear, or feel in the present moment to ground yourself. These practices can help shift you from a shut-down state to one of gentle re-engagement. Remember, every response is your body’s way of protecting you. By understanding them, we can respond with compassion and care. We’re all learning together—one response at a time. #Viasomatic #YogaTherapy #NervousSystemHealth #Resilience #MindBodyConnection #FlopResponse #StressManagement #SomaticHealing #GroundingPractice #EmotionalWellness

When any system has been out of balance for a long period of time, we can start to feel powerless, helpless, or numb. This is true about the physical body; this is true in more complex systems such as families, work environments, countries, and eco-systems. It is time that we wake up to our senses. Initially, a process of awakening can feel terrible. We might want to retreat and shut down again. But wait, this might just be a healing crisis. A healing crisis is a temporary worsening of symptoms that arises as we go through the healing process. Coming out of numbness, we increase our awareness and awaken ourselves to how much pain is actually there. Stay the course…it is time to heal. 💖 🙏 ✨ Read more on my blog:

This isn’t the first flare-up, and it won’t be the last. Even though I’ve been through this before and know I’ll face it again, it doesn’t make it any less frustrating, upsetting, or disappointing. Chronic illnesses are hard to explain—they aren’t something you just “get over.” They don’t go away, and they can’t be cured. At best, they can be managed. Living with a chronic or invisible illness means carrying a burden most people can’t see while trying to move through life as if it’s not there. It’s exhausting, both physically and emotionally, but it’s also a reality I’ve learned to live with. This current flare-up will pass, and I know I’ll find my way back to a sense of normalcy. But the journey through it is always tough. I share this because I want to bring awareness to the challenges so many of us face in silence. We push through, we keep going, and we find strength even in our hardest moments. To anyone else living with a chronic or invisible illness: I see you. Your strength doesn’t go unnoticed, and your fight is valid. You’re not alone.

3 Things You Must Stop Today To Have A Better Tomorrow 1. Stop Trying To Do It All - Prioritize what's important to you and give those people and/or activities an honored place in your life. 2. Stop Ignoring Your Body - Long before illness hits, your body will give you warning signs of impending danger. Listen to it. 3. Stop Running Away From Truth - I know, I know! It would be so much simpler if I could just give you a pill to make you feel AMAZING every day. Unfortunately, that pill does not exist. The truth is what you need more than any medication is to allow your body, mind, and spirit the space and grace to heal naturally during periods of intentional rest.
