Most record labels aren’t real brands. They’re completely undifferentiated. Any artist on Capitol could be on Atlantic…as long as they’re profitable enough. Labels need to learn how to think like lifestyle brands as quickly as possible. They need to build community. They need to curate a consistent experience. Labels need to mean something, to symbolize a point of view or identity. Just by looking at the brand name and logo, you should know what a label stands for and if you’ll like the music. Most of the time, listeners don’t even know who the label is. And that’s a boulevard of broken dreams. In a world dominated by algorithms, the winners will be labels who own real fans. Labels that have listeners who check out every release. Labels with artists that embody the brand and are lifted up by it. The algorithmic web’s algebra is: Mean something or rely on luck. I don’t like slot machines or skinner boxes.

My latest Blog is a guide on a topic I have much practice with. My artist Fayro and I have often come into times where we would spend money on working with a so-called "Marketing Professional" only to learn halfway through the campaign that we are already doing what they charged us to do. "Well, Cymphani why didn't you ask questions" Believe me questions were asked and what I learned is for so long I wasn't trusting my capabilities. In this business, we will all go through trial and error. I don't believe in losses only lessons. Now I know what to invest in moving forward. I went through the process so that now I can share my experience with you. #Marketing #MarketingTips #MusicBusiness #MusicMarketing https://lnkd.in/dc7JWbdK

"Josh had incredible insight through the whole process. It helps when the person who is building your site understands music and what you want to portray." Robby Webb is not only an amazing recording engineer, producer, and drummer. He is also a long-time, trusted client of Wave Land. We recently redesigned his website to better support his business needs moving forward. As an engineer and producer, it’s imperative to showcase previous work to help prospective clients understand your creative voice. Recording is deeply personal and developing a relationship with your engineer or producer is critical to making good music. That’s why we spent a lot of time on the personal bits: - Who is Robby? - What are his specialties? - What can clients expect when working with him? - Who has he worked with? (Including samples!) His new website answers all of these questions while seamlessly guiding users to start the conversation. It highlights Robby’s past work and recording experience, making it easy for potential clients to get the information they need to take the next step. Please go check out his shiny new website at RobbyWebb.com and give him a follow! Are you a musician or artist in need of a tailored digital strategy and the perfect website to showcase your craft? Reach out, and let’s work together to bring your vision to life! #digitalstrategy #webdesign #webdevelopment #digitalagency

Vinyl LP sales reached over six million in the UK in 2023. Rising by 11.7%, the market has been rising consistently for sixteen years. With the growing use of ai-generated and digital content, the human creative process and the desire for something physical in a digital age, has resulted in a new appeal for analogue technologies. In The Conversation UK article ‘Hard work and happy accidents: why so many of us prefer ‘difficult’ analogue technology’, Giana Eckhardt, Professor of Marketing at King’s Business School and Vice Dean of Engagement and Executive Education examines the revival of analogue technology.
