✨Voice and Lived Experience of Children and Young People Guidance for Practitioners✨ 🌱Talk to the child/young person about their life, likes & dislikes, hopes & dreams, worries & fears; 💡Children/young people must be seen alone as they may be inhibited from talking openly about their experiences by the presence of their parent or carer. 🌱Consider the location – children/young people may feel less inhibited about speaking if they are in a safe neutral setting. 💡Even if children/young people are too young to speak it is still essential that workers convey a sense of what life is like for them Find the full guide here 👇 https://lnkd.in/epzMHEs6 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ 🔥#LivedExperience #Leadership #MentalHealth #Workplace #Peer #CoProduction 🔔 Follow the Lived Experience Advisory Directory's daily updates here👇 https://lnkd.in/e2M-hu5P 💡The Lived Experience Advisory Directory. Workplace announcement 📣 no8 The post today is about knowledge and the creation of knowledge. I’m inspired by Helen Bevans post on knowledge in organisations. She states 80% of knowledge is tacit in organisations and therefore undocumented and exists only in peoples’ life experiences. To organise and collect this knowledge we need to be listening and sharing this knowledge and information with each other in organisations in order to collect this knowledge. Sadly so often we know that many people and groups are silenced and ignored in organisations and made to small themselves or have their voices ignored, belittled and or denied. We see research largely happening in the global north with the voices of those in the southern hemisphere not co-opted into research about them. We have the experience of those disabled made meaning of by those who are able bodied… and so on… This is an area of DEI largely unspoken off. We need to only give people a seat at the table but also a voice at the meeting otherwise the seat is meaningless. We have a term for this in epistemology (the science of making knowledge) it’s called epistemic injustice and this causes a huge harm to knowledge. If we go back to that 80% of knowledge largely unseen in organisations and think that the 80% could be closer to 💯 in some groups we have a lot of work to do. What are your thoughts on this? What are you doing to collect this knowledge? I’d love your thoughts on how we capture more tacit knowledge in particular the one that lies among the marginilized groups. —————————————— I’m Elizabeth a disabled #livedexperience #mentalhealth #trainer policy analyst and writer who wants community and independent living to work for everyone. I practice setting professional boundaries every single morning for at least 10 minutes. I've been doing this since 2018. But over the years, I've learned you can (very easily) overcomplicate the act of setting boundaries. Which is why now I only use 3 simple techniques: 1. Clear Communication 2. Self-Reflection 3. Consistent Practice Explore our resources to enhance your practice. 🌟 #MentalHealth #ProfessionalGrowth #mentalhealthmingle #community #peersupport

30 days of Wellbeing w Sharman @Work Day 10: Self Advocacy This may very well be the most important well-being at work practice: Advocate for yourself. Self-advocacy is the ability to speak up for yourself and your needs, and to make decisions that affect your life. It involves understanding your strengths and weaknesses, identifying your goals, and knowing your rights and responsibilities. It also means being able to communicate these things to others, and to ask for what you want and need. This week I coached my daughter in asking for a raise at work: researching competitive pay, incorporating customer feedback, positioning the value she brings to the company, and asking for what she wants. As a parent and a woman, teaching and promoting self advocacy is one of the most important skills I can pass on to others. #selfadvocacy #coaching #wellbeingatwork #career

Brief Blog from the Relational Space The benefits of Integrating Systemic Practice within Social Care Teams. Its becoming more important that Social Care Teams are equipped to respond to complexity and ever increasing challenges in their work. Its a much more ethical practice to understand that everything is connected in the work. When we work in separated silos things inevitably become more entrenched and difficult. www.relationalspace.ie
