30 days of Wellbeing w Sharman @Work Day 10: Self Advocacy This may very well be the most important well-being at work practice: Advocate for yourself. Self-advocacy is the ability to speak up for yourself and your needs, and to make decisions that affect your life. It involves understanding your strengths and weaknesses, identifying your goals, and knowing your rights and responsibilities. It also means being able to communicate these things to others, and to ask for what you want and need. This week I coached my daughter in asking for a raise at work: researching competitive pay, incorporating customer feedback, positioning the value she brings to the company, and asking for what she wants. As a parent and a woman, teaching and promoting self advocacy is one of the most important skills I can pass on to others. #selfadvocacy #coaching #wellbeingatwork #career

TURN PAIN INTO POWER! The quote "Turn pain into power" from Jacquie Abram's book Surviving in a Toxic Workplace emphasizes transforming negative experiences, such as workplace toxicity, into sources of strength and resilience. Jacquie Abram suggests transforming pain into power by leveraging personal experiences of workplace trauma to empower others. She emphasizes the importance of speaking out against discrimination and sharing survival strategies through her writing and masterclasses. Abram encourages individuals to shift from a victim mentality to a victor mindset, advocating for self-advocacy and negotiation in toxic environments. By teaching others how to fight back effectively, she aims to create "warriors" who can navigate and overcome systemic challenges in their careers. If you resonate with this, I suggest reading the book 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 #empowerment #advocacy #systematicchallenges #victormindset

I practice setting professional boundaries every single morning for at least 10 minutes. I've been doing this since 2018. But over the years, I've learned you can (very easily) overcomplicate the act of setting boundaries. Which is why now I only use 3 simple techniques: 1. Clear Communication 2. Self-Reflection 3. Consistent Practice Explore our resources to enhance your practice. 🌟 #MentalHealth #ProfessionalGrowth #mentalhealthmingle #community #peersupport
