Donors are more than financial supporters—they're part of our community, united by a shared belief in our mission. When they give to us, they’re offering their trust, their hard-earned pennies, and their hope that we will turn their generosity into meaningful impact. But what happens if we don't acknowledge that? If their gift disappears into a black void of silence? The connection weakens - probably disappears. A genuine, heartfelt 'thank you' changes everything. It's not just good manners—it's transformative. When we thank our donors, we: Reinforce the relationship: They see themselves as part of our community, not just a source of funds. Highlight their impact: They know their support isn’t just noticed but is making a real difference. Encourage future giving: In my experience, I’ve seen thank-yous spark new donations—proof that appreciation goes a long way. This isn't just about retaining donors; it's about building champions for our cause. A thank-you is as powerful as an ask, and it ensures our supporters feel valued, connected, and inspired. Men’s mental health matters—and it always has. Now that Movember has wrapped up, it’s important to remember that the conversation about men’s mental health doesn’t stop with November. For too long, men have been pressured to “man up,” stay silent, and carry their struggles alone. But silence doesn’t heal—it isolates. My dad’s story is a powerful reminder of this. His mental health struggles, left unsupported, drove him to the bottle as a way to cope. He worked incredibly hard as the CTO at AXA (I had no idea what that actually meant growing up!), but like so many men, he was fighting invisible battles beneath the surface. He doesn’t mind me sharing this—he’s retired now, with no career pressures (or fear of shaming!), and has always believed in using his story to help others. He’s taught me and my sisters to own our stories and show up as our authentic selves. I couldn’t be prouder of him for owning his (Mates in Mind). If initiatives like Movember had existed in the 90s, maybe things would’ve been different. Maybe the stigma around men seeking help wouldn’t have been so strong. Maybe he would’ve had access to the support he needed. This is why Movember is so important—not for the moustaches, but for the conversations they spark. Kudos to Josh Carhart👇, whose ginger genetics made his Movember attempt a bit… underwhelming 😂. But it’s not about the facial hair—it’s about shining a light to break the stigma, support men, and remind them that it’s okay to talk, to ask for help, and to admit they’re struggling. If you’re reading this and struggling, know this: reaching out for help isn’t weakness—it’s strength.
