🌍 Today is World Mental Health Day! 🧠💚 As we raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being, let’s take a moment to focus on how Emotional Intelligence (EQ) plays a crucial role in supporting both ourselves and those around us. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions while also being empathetic toward the emotions of others. It's not just a "soft skill"—it’s a powerful tool for building resilience, reducing stress, and creating healthier environments, whether at home or in the workplace. Here are a few ways we can leverage EQ to support mental health: ✨ Self-Awareness: Recognize your emotions and understand how they influence your thoughts and actions. This is the first step toward better mental health. ✨ Empathy: By listening actively and showing empathy, we create safe spaces for others to express themselves. Let’s strive to foster environments where everyone feels heard and supported. ✨ Self-Regulation: Managing our emotional responses is key to staying grounded, especially during stressful times. Practicing mindfulness and pausing before reacting can make a huge difference. ✨ Social Skills: Building and maintaining strong relationships is essential to our emotional well-being. Let’s focus on communicating openly and collaborating effectively to lift each other up. Emotional intelligence helps us understand and manage our mental health while also empowering us to be more supportive of others. On this World Mental Health Day, let’s commit to practicing empathy, understanding, and emotional balance. Together, we can create a more emotionally intelligent and mentally healthy world. 🌱 #WorldMentalHealthDay #EmotionalIntelligence #MentalHealthMatters #Empathy #SelfAwareness #WellBeing #Resilience #EmotionalBalance #Mindfulness #shafaathashmi #LPCentre #Strideperformance

Mental Health Awareness Week – five tips to support your mental health Our mental health is just as vital to our overall wellbeing as our physical health. With one in four people in the UK experiencing poor mental health each year, this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to highlight steps you can take to support your own wellbeing. 1. Take regular breaks – taking a five-minute break each hour can be enough to improve your wellbeing and concentration, helping you return to your tasks with renewed energy. 2. Connect with others – forming positive social connections has been linked to lower rates of anxiety and depression, as well as other positives, including higher self-esteem. 3. Spend time outside – spending just two hours a week outside can reduce anxiety and boost vitamin D levels. 4. Be creative – starting a creative hobby can help improve your wellbeing by getting you into a ‘flow’ state (also known as being ‘in the zone’) where you’re more mindful and relaxed. 5. Practise mindfulness – mindfulness can help reduce anxiety by encouraging you to focus on the present moment. Following these steps can help support your wellbeing, so why not give them a try and see what impact they have? Mental Health Matters 💚 As we enter Mental Health Awareness Month, it's a important reminder that mental health is just as vital as physical health. Our minds deserve the same care and attention as our bodies. The truth is, we all face mental health challenges at some point in our lives - whether it's stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, or something else. And in our always-on, hustle culture of today, it's more crucial than ever to prioritise our mental wellbeing. This month, I encourage everyone to: ✨ Check in on your colleagues, friends and family. A simple "How are you doing?" can go a long way. ✨ Practice self-care, whatever that looks like for you. It could be exercise, meditation, reading, spending time outdoors - anything that recharges you. ✨ Educate yourself on mental health topics. Understanding leads to greater empathy and less stigma. ✨ Seek help if you need it. There's no shame in asking for support during difficult times. Let's normalise conversations around mental health in the workplace and beyond. An organisation is only as strong as its people, and prioritising mental fitness leads to healthier, happier, and higher-performing teams. We all have mental health, and we're all in this together. Share your thoughts below on how we can build a more supportive culture. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #SelfCare Part of my daily self-care routine is taking her for a walk. Helps me be in the moment and think freely.
