We, the Irish drinks industry, are an industry with people at its heart. We are a core part of the experience economy which spends almost €4 billion every year, on purchases of goods and services, including over €1 billion from domestic food and drink suppliers. We have created world class visitor experience attractions catering to international and domestic visitors and bringing business to all parts of the island. Visitor numbers to our more than 30 distillery and brewery visitor centres have reached 2.4 million per annum and will continue to grow. We support hundreds of festivals, cultural events and sporting occasions in communities throughout the country -vital elements of Ireland’s renowned cultural life. Review our Pride of Place policy document and how we support the drinks industry to continue to grow and thrive. https://lnkd.in/ekh5XaF8 Cormac Healy Patricia Callan Jennifer Wallace Eoin Ó Catháin Aengus King Olena Nazarenko Carleen Madigan Ibec Richard Collumb #DrinkResponsibly #ExperienceEconomy #MoreThanMeetsTheEye

The world's best bar is in Mexico City! Why doesn't this surprise me? Because it's well deserved. The World's 50 Best Bars selected Handshake Speakeasy Bar in Colonia Juárez as the #1 for this honorable recognition. I was reflecting why is this happening now for #Mexico, here are 5 reasons why: 1. Mexico City is having a #culturalboom with worldwide attention for the hundreds of museums, rich history, and fantastic gastronomic scene. 2. Because there are so many good concepts! We know hospitality and Mexican joy is contagious. 3. International eyes, both in opportunities and investing are looking at my beloved Latin American capital city. The growing expat community is diversifying the scene. 4. Luxta created an original concept inspired by the Prohibition Era, on point with the nostalgia trend having cocktails as the Peanut Butter and Jelly. (right in the feels!) 5. The cocktail scene is thriving in CDMX thanks to the rich diversity of ingredients, of the local trend of less clubbing and more bars, and the professionalization of the bar industry, lead for many years by Licorería Limantour ( also in the World's Best) Excited to see how the Mexican bar scene is going because amo México and I love to see the #hospitality scene thriving.

Recap from Hotelex Shanghai 2024 | Swipe and Read! Hotelex Shanghai is one of the biggest #coffee events in #China. At the show, specifically, we hosted many cuppings with our partners — seasoned and new — and welcomed many visitors to our booth, where we presented them with 23 differently brewed coffees from #Yemen and #Colombia. Their honesty and exuberance helped us identify the coffees that’ll do well in this market; and has left us determined to advise our partners better to meet these growing, ever-changing, consumer needs. Present at the event were Sky Xu, Head of Operations - China, and Jun Pyo Lee, Business Development Manager - Asia. Their reflections below 👇🏻 “China has an innovative playing field in the coffee market, but the economic downturns in the preceding year saw a mild dip in consumption. Yet this market has pivoted and persisted. Many partners have diversified their offerings, sales mechanisms and activations, and new cafe expansions are happening with the help of externally raised capital. We have also been witnessing an influx of younger workforce that focuses on the specifics of coffee, one that participates in competitions leveraging the power of social media to retain attention. A large part of this response can be attributed to the sheer passion that China feels towards coffee.” At Qima, we have always seen tremendous potential in China’s coffee market. And the curve of the joyride (and lessons!) will only go up from here.

Last week, Ibec published a report on the Experience Economy - which encompasses hospitality, retail, travel, food, drink, tourism, entertainment, technology, events, and organisations in the arts, cultural, sporting, and heritage sectors - those sectors we *experience*, rather than use. This represents 9% of total employment in the State, supports 330,000 jobs either directly or indirectly, pays a wages and salaries bill of some €4.5 bn; and generates export earnings (from inbound tourism) of up to €7.0 bn. The Experience Economy is very important for Irish Whiskey Association members also. At the moment, 29 of our members have their distillery tour or visitor experiences listed on the website: https://lnkd.in/gBXCxQsU These visitor experiences represent a vital revenue stream for our businesses, and a unique pathway to promote their brands in the eyes of the consumer. Government support for continued expansion of these experiences is required. The full report can be viewed in the link in the comment below.
