The Czech Republic joins the F-35 Lightning II global team "We are pleased the government of Czech Republic is now officially a part of the F-35 Lightning II program of record," said US Air Force Lt. Gen. Mike Schmidt, program executive officer, F-35 Joint Program Office. "This partnership with the Czech Ministry of Defense will deliver and sustain the F-35 aircraft for decades, while providing the Czech Air Force with unmatched interoperability and ensuring it has the capability to counter current and future threats." In addition to the aircraft, the procurement also includes personnel training, service and logistical support, and developing other support services ensuring successful deliveries of all 24 F-35s. "With the signing of the Letter of Offer and Acceptance between the Czech Republic and US governments, the Czech Republic becomes the 18th nation to join the global F-35 program. We are honored to partner with the Czech Republic Air Force as its F-35s join other European nations in strengthening and growing interoperability, significantly increasing NATO's deterrent capability."  said Bridget Lauderdale, Lockheed Martin's vice president and general manager of the F-35 program. Russia's FAB-3000 Glide Bomb has shifted from being dubbed the 'Big Joke' to becoming a 'Big Headache' for the Ukrainian Military and NATO. The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the commencement of mass production of the three-tonne FAB-3000 high-explosive aviation bombs. Despite initial skepticism, these bombs are now a reality. Finland and Sweden bring a fighter force roughly the size of the UK's to the NATO alliance. Finland flies F/A-18 Hornets and has order a large number of F-35 stealth fighters. Their forces and bases would complicate any Russian effort to conquer the Baltic states in NATO. Russia's decision to invade Ukraine has had an unintended consequence: a boost to NATO airpower. Fearful of being Russia's next target, Finland joined NATO in 2023, followed by Sweden this March. This means the alliance will be augmented by their advanced aircraft and strategically located airbases. "Finland and Sweden increase NATO's high-end airpower capacity," wrote RAND. Corp researchers Paul Cormarie and John Hoehn in a recent essay for the Modern War Institute at West Point. In terms of numbers of aircraft, the new Nordic members would bring a considerable addition to NATO airpower in a conflict with Russia. Sweden currently has about a hundred Gripen jet fighters, while Finland has 62 American-made F/A-18 Hornets. That makes the combined Finnish/Swedish fighter contingent roughly equal to the combat jets of the UK's Royal Air Force and about is only one-third less than the roughly 200 fighter jets apiece flown by France and Germany.

I think it is now likely that Sweden will take the role of a northern European military “hub” and will massively bolster the defence capabilities of the Baltic states. I read an article on the plane describing how the Baltic Sea will essentially become a "NATO lake," surrounding strategic Russian locations and enhancing regional security. Sweden also brings substantial military assets to NATO, including advanced submarines and Gripen fighter jets, enhancing the alliance's maritime and air capabilities in the region.
